New "Frozen Fun" even in DCA

Agreed. This has always been our oasis when we need a little break from the madhouse outside. Any thoughts on where they might put the meet & greet?

Yes, they took out the Toy Story Xenothorpe. The area to the far left.

I agree. We love this area.

I get it, mostly little girls and women like Frozen, but I don't personally know any men (or even little boys!) who find Frozen appealing at all (much less want to spend any money on it or waste time on a meet and greet for it).

I'm a woman and I'm completely Frozen'd out! It's irritating that you go to DL and Frozen is just EVERYWHERE! And now they're taking over CA too! They might as well change the name from Disneyland to FrozenLand Lol Ugh.... too, too much. Just overload :sad2:

I'm so bummed about this! I'm going next weekend to celebrate completing my MA program and we were looking forward to spending the evening at Mad T Party celebrating with drinks and dancing. We usually only buy a 1 day park hopper, but decided to go for 2 days, 1 park per day, so that we could see all the christmas stuff at the magic kingdom and still have plenty of time at Mad T Party to celebrate. There's just not as much for 2 adults to do at DCA. Any suggestions?

Although, I feel I need to clarify that I don't hate Frozen as a movie at all -- it was enjoyable enough, though not my favorite Disney movie. If a movie is not a favorite of yours/mine/ours, you/I/we generally don't want to see lots of events and overlays suddenly popping up, all revolving around that movie. It's the hype, the buzz and the media/promotion surrounding it that I can't deal with.

There were people who thought there was too much Toy Story at DLR in its day. There are people who think there is too much Pixar in general, and others who think there is not enough Pixar. There are people who thought there was too much Little Mermaid saturation back in the day. My friend was not a huge Aladdin fan, so she didn't like the Aladdin elements popping up at Disneyland when it was a hot property, but she couldn't get enough of Beauty & the Beast, and would have enjoyed it if the whole park transformed into a Beast's Castle theme. :rotfl2:

The Frozen overload is much bigger and grander than anything that happened with the movies of the late '80s and early-to-mid '90s, and it seems like it's even bigger and grander than the Toy Story mania that swept the nation as well.

I was saying in the Christmas/Holiday Superthread that each thing -- each individual Frozen element -- would be fine on its own. I have no problem with the addition to the Storybook Land Canal Boat ride (although I'm sad to see the Old Mills go) because that addition makes sense. I have no problem with a temporary Frozen show at the Royal Theatre at the Fantasy Faire (though I would hope that the regular shows eventually come back). I have no problem with a temporary Freeze the Night party, or a temporary sing-along in the Muppet theater.

I do have a problem with the Toy Story zoetrope being removed to make way for Anna & Elsa!

My main complaint/problem with all of this is that there is too much Frozen all at once, all at the same time, and most of it is being shoehorned into Hollywood Land -- a land whose theme is not really about Princesses and fairy tales. One Frozen element in Hollywood Land would be fine, but in my opinion there is too much of it in that one land, all happening at once -- especially when Frozen is also playing a huge role in Winter Dreams in Paradise Pier, and there is an Olaf Ice Rink and an Anna & Elsa Boutique in Downtown Disney. It really does seem like Frozen is taking over. It is truly overload and over-saturation. Some people who are not yet sick of Frozen will eventually be sick of Frozen.

Now, all of that said, I don't doubt that Disney will do a good job of presenting all of the Frozen Fun. I don't doubt that it will be hugely popular at first, and will bring in lots of people. Eventually, over time, some of the frenzy will die off and Frozen will be scaled back a bit so that it is not quite soooooo prominent and pervasive.

I agree.

Yes! These are all of my thoughts, exactly!

Yes, Sherry E, I agree completely. Too much, too much. I like the movie, too, but come on! It's like when they ruin a song you love by over playing it on the radio. Scale it back so I can keep enjoying the movie!

I sure hope the zoetrope is back by summer! End of June, please...I love that thing.

+ 1

As I said elsewhere, I'm generally of the opinion if something that doesn't interest me that much pops up "great, less people in line in front of me for something I like."

But at the rate they are killing things off for Frozen soon nothing I like will be left anymore. :( Too much and all at the same time. It as posted in another thread that they may as well rename Disneyland Frozenland at this rate. My boyfriend already said "Watch out, they're going for Mansion next. Next year it won't be Jack Skellington taking over, but instead Elsa will turn it into her ice castle." Sadly I wouldn't even rule this out at the going rate. :rolleyes2

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I mentioned in the Christmas/Holiday Superthread a couple of months back that I was fully expecting Frozen dolls to end up in IASW -- that is not far-fetched at all at this rate. I think it will happen.

I also said -- and this is far-fetched -- that we will probably soon see Anna joining forces with Jack Sparrow in POTC to rescue Elsa from the clutches of some nefarious pirate who kidnaps her or something.

Why not a "Frozen-invades-the-Tiki-Room" concept?:sad2:

Believe it or not there have been Frozen Matterhorn rumors!

I have a hard time envisioning Frozen Mansion but I could see them doing Frozen Small World, Frozen Midway Mania, and Mickey and the Frozen Map.

And what might they do with the Matterhorn!!

The Matterhorn and the Castle seem like the two most inevitable targets for more "Frozen fun," along with dolls inserted into IASW.:(

How about "Frozen Under the Sea" or "Freeze the Sea," in which Elsa freezes Ariel's underwater home on the Little Mermaid ride?

Or, how about "Frozen on the Frontier," in which the Frozen gang takes up residence on Tom Sawyer's Island/Pirate's Lair?

Put Elsa's palace on the side of the Matterhorn and change the abominable snowman to the movie's snow monster. :)

The above posts are right, though - it will be nice, and most of it will be temporary.

I was just at DCA yesterday. The walls up in Hollywoodland suggest a complete takeover of the area. So, I asked the CM at Monster's Inc if they'd be going down while Frozen was up. She said, "nope." So I commented that it's gonna be a little weird walking through Arendale and finding Monster's Inc! She completely agreed. If they're doing a takeover, why wouldn't they just close MI? It's not like it's all that popular, and it's gonna be so awkward!

As to men/boys not liking Frozen - check around my son's preschool or the local elementary schools here. Boys love Frozen too. I see boys in Olaf shirts/hats all the time here and have for some time. And the Frozen merch is still selling out here, not so much the Barbies that have been out for a while, but the newer things like Snow Glow Elsa and the newer dresses and plushes.

I will totally admit I haven't been to DLR yet (planning first trip!) but I can see how people get upset over elements changes in a park they love. At least none of this looks to be permanent. I remember when the news came that DL's IASW was changing to get dolls added - I was praying they wouldn't touch the WDW version! Same for the Swiss Family Treehouse vs Tarzan. Those things at WDW are dear to me so I didn't want change. But I think temporary overlays are a bit different. Frozen is popular beyond what any other movie in recent history has been, honestly. The only other crazy crazy fan base I can think of is Harry Potter (and I am a Potterhead, all the way) and that got an entire section of two theme parks! I don't see that happening in DLR at least. :) For those done with Frozen, hang in there. :)
