Howdy everybody....
I like to consider myself a Disney World veteran as I grew up right down the road and have been there dozens of times,
but after moving to Texas 12 years ago I have only been back to WDW once. I was lucky enough to get to Disnyland California this year which got me in the mood for another trip to Florida and a visit to the "Happiest Place on Earth".
For the first time I will be taking 2 kids and my wife, so we are planning a week long trip. We will stay at a Disney property and I will do my best to show my kids (age 12 and 14) the magic that I got to experience growing up in Florida.
Being that I am a little rusty on the current Disney scene, I am hoping that the resident experts on here can help me plan and save some money in the process.
I look forward to learning from all of you guys who know WDW alot better than I do.....

:welcome: I too am taking my kids first time to WDW! When are you leaving? Have fun on your trip:thumbsup2

We are also from Texas, we got our DVC membership in 1995 and have loved EVERY minute of it. It is too bad that due to loss of work we have not been able to go every year recently. But we have had some wonderful trips!!
Cheers,

It looks from your countdown meter that you have a few trips planned. we haven't booked our trip yet. We were hoping to do it in the spring before it gets too hot.
I was hoping to pick up some tips on this site. Maybe some ways to save money? We were looking at flying (Southwest) and staying at a value resort. It looks lilke it doesn't save you any money to buy the dining plan, but it would be conveinient to have the food already paid for. Anyone have any experience in this area?

How does that DVC work? Is it just a timeshare? Have you been able to sell your week there to friends or family?

Howdy! :thumbsup2 fellow Texan.

A good place to start is with the stickies listed in the trip planning or budget boards. :surfweb:

Then, you can follow up with searches on any title you want a little more info on. Of course if you still can't find the answer you need, the members of the forum are always willing to assist. Warning though, opinions may vary. :rotfl2:

Hey there I am from Texas too! I talked my husband into joining the DVC and love it! It is not a traditional time share. It is a points system and you can use them any time of the year.

I do alot of on line surveys to make extra money! The next trip I will be paying for annual passes and DXDP with my gift cards I have earned. As well as all of the gas for the trip.

You will have alot of fun on your vacation! Welcome!

Welcome to the DIS and Howdy from Texas as well. You'll find a ton of information on these boards that will be helpful. Good luck planning!
