Hi all,

I'm new to the board and a bit overwhelmed with all the information it has to offer. I have spent the last few days reading suggestions however still do not feel armed with the information I'm looking for. I know it's got to be my fault because there are so many great idea's!

I am a mother of two boys. One is 15 years old and the other is 6 years old. Yes I am aware there is quite an age gap however it works well. Both my boys love going to DisneyWorld and we have been fortunate to go numerous times. I have been able to cut costs down since we have a timeshare (not a Disney timeshare) however this time around I'm looking to stay at the Boardwalk. We just LOVE Disney's Boardwalk and I desperately want to figure out a way to make it affordable. If anyone has suggestions please feel free to share. I can't believe how costly it is to stay there. UGH

Anyway,
It is nice to meet you all!!!!

Have you looked into renting DVC points? You can look on our DVC forum to find out all about how to do that.

Welcome!! I'm with lovetoscrap....renting a reservation from a DVC member is a great way to enjoy the Boardwalk with one of the villas. There are some 40% off codes floating around for a discount on the Boardwalk Inn. I'm not sure if you can get one and take advantage of that.

Welcome from another Illinoisian!! :) Don't know when you are planning to visit WDW but there are so many discounts right now through December that include free dining. Good luck! We are also DVC owners but really prefer Beach Club over Boardwalk. To each his own!! :):)

:welcome:

Be sure and check out the codes and discounts board, they are usually pretty up to date on any promos floating around. Also sign up at waltdisneyworld.com for the vacation dvd and make sure your email doesn't spam thier messages they send special offers from time to time.

Thank you everyone! About how many DVC points would it cost for a 2 bedroom villa at the Boardwalk or Beach club? I don't understand the point system.

Is $3,839.76 a good price for 1 week at the Beach Club with a Standard room, park hoppers and free dining for a family of 4?

welcome..

I will look up the DVC points if you have an idea when you are thinking..

I would also check out renting out DVC points. With a standard room, you only get a hotel room, but with DVC you get so much more. A studio is the smallest DVC unit and it sleeps four, but you also get a kitchenette and a balcony. Sometimes the balconies with the regular rooms(not DVC) have only a small balcony to stand on, no place to sit. You could also go to Woodfield and walk through the model at Doorway of Dreams to get an idea of how points work.

You need to post any questions regarding DVC points and their costs etc on the DVC board.

Our Codes and Rates board (found as a subforum of the Disney Resorts board) can help you with the prices you are finding and how to find a good deal.

You may do better with a room-only ressie with a discount code (if there's one available), get your tickets from UnderCover Tourist and pay your dining OOP. Unless eating all the desserts, snacks and sit down meals are important to you--then free dining might be the better deal.

Don't forget to about Dreams Unlimited!!!!!!

I'll go to them to see if they can get me a better deal if we go non-DVC cause they can do alot of the leg work, Rezs, ADR's etc..

Plus if you aren't attached to Boardwalk you could stay at 1 of the moderates/ vaule too for less.

Again, Thank you everyone! I appreciate your suggestions and advice. I will have to keep checking the other sections of this board. I started to price out August 15-August 22 week but really I am open to the best deal I can find to make this happen. I would prefer not to take my oldest son out of school since it's important not to miss school when you're in high school but may make an exception if the price and timing is right.
