I had an interesting chat with some people from ATD before Christmas when they told me they will have a special promotion starting around Jan 7 that is sure to appeal to all Disneyholics (and yes, that does mean most people here ).

As their big 2007 ticket incentive, they are going to be giving away a unique Disney backpack full of useful goodies for Florida, including an international phone card, ticket wallet and sunscreen. They call it their 'Theme Park Survival Kit,' and it has been put together with Disney's help to ensure they have something different to offer apart from the usual cut-price ticket deals.

The Survival Kit (for every booking over a set price limit) will take the form of a special issue Disney-branded backpack (NOT available in any Disney stores) and an array of handy items to make touring the parks more comfortable. The full details will be available shortly (I would imagine straight away in the New Year) and I'll report back as soon as we have them.

The full details are now up on ATD's website (www.atraction-tickets-direct.co.uk), and their Theme Park Survival Kit consists of:

* An exclusive Disney rucksack (of the draw-string kind).
* An electronic currency converter (for all serious shoppers!)
* A battery-operated hand-held fan (very handy for summer months)
* Zinc stick sun block
* A pen
* An Orlando Map
* ATD's Disney guide (which is produced by Disney and is actually just a glorified version of the information booklets given out when you check in to their hotels)
* A 15-minute international phone card worth more than $50 (well worth having)
* A splash-proof ticket wallet
* A sun cap and VIP WDW lanyard and badge (one per child 3-9)
* And an underwater camera (with all bookings that include Discovery Cove)

This is for all full-price bookings over £700, one per family (not combinable with any other offer).

It seems a nice package of goodies, several of them well worth having, and it then becomes a question of whether people want to save a few pounds on the booking itself or if they'd like to have the neat 'extras.' You pays your money.....

Fairly predictably, Theme Park Tickets Direct have come out with a new cut-price offer for the New Year:
