New Fridge: Black or stainless steel

I have always loved my black appliances and they look amazing in my Minnie Mouse themed kitchen! There are definitely limited options though in black, especially since covid...manufacturers are making fewer options in black. When my fridge died last year, I had only one choice that would arrive in a few days. Everything else was weeks to months. I had to wait about 3 months for my black Bosch dishwasher over the summer but that was absolutely worth the wait!

I would match what you currently have unless you are planning to replace the other big appliances. We had to replace at various times and I thought the kitchen looked ridiculous with a black stove, white fridge and black dishwasher.

We did a kitchen reno several years ago and were torn over this choice too. Decided on a black textured refrigerator. The rest of the appliances are stainless steel with black trim. I love my fridge and think it looks really good.
We did too and all the drawer microwave makers had gone to stainless only, so our fridge, dishwasher and stove are almond, and the microwave sticks out in stainless.

We currently Almond.
We don't want to have to wait 12 weeks so to get a fridge within a few days, we have to go with black or stainless.
This thread is very evenly split!

It could be different but my kitchen stovetop is black ceramic and never again. No matter what I do, it always looks dirty within minutes of cleaning. It collects dust like it’s a job. The bottom half and the rest of my appliances are stainless and are super easy to wipe down and maintain. Like I said could be the difference in the material but I’ll never own a black appliance again.

Gotta stick with stainless. Might consider something different if we changed all of the kitchen appliances

Stainless. We just bought a new fridge for out in our pool house - it’s black and the fingerprints drive me crazy! IMG_1891.jpeg

Our renovated from the studs house came with stainless steel appliances in 1998. DW hated them so about 2005 we replaced them with almond. We’ve since replaced the range, fridge, and dishwasher (at different times) with slate.

I wanted to find a retro appliance store and get avocado.

An auto shop that paints cars can do that for you too - paint kitchen appliances that is.

I'm waiting for the avocado, gold and burnt orange to make a come back! Those were the days, LOL!

I would choose whatever color matches the rest of your kitchen. Don't just buy what is trendy or based on watching those TV home design shows, since 5 yr from now you likely won't be looking to again replace your kitchen appliances. We have stainless steel and it looks great. There is also a type of stainless that is supposedly less likely to show fingerprints, but likely each manufacturer has their own brand name for that.

Color/finish isn't the only consideration. A pice of advice: Don't give in to FOMO and assume you want a trendy french door refrigerator. I find them awkward and not very practical. In addition, if fridge space is always tight for you, know that in-door water/ice dispensers take up a LOT of door space, and increase the number of things that can go wrong with increasingly poorly- and cheaply-built appliances; ask yourself if you really need those.
