New form of Cheating in Ship Battle?

I wasn't accused of cheating for what I did but the person did get very angry with me.

The ship battle game started and one player said they were "afk" so naturally I bombed that ship into oblivion right away. Apparently they weren't really afk as they immediately took me to task because "they were on a quest." Sure, what I did wasn't nice but it is a pirates game and in ship battle, the way to win is to sink your opponents. Perhaps that person was on a quest for a brain? If so, I hope they found it.

FYI, my son did something similar in a military game, I think it was Navy Field. He was up against a much more powerful ship and had only one torpedo left. He opted to announce that he was out of torpedos. The other ship fell for it and got really really close to him at which point my son fired the torpedo pretty much point blank at the ship and sent it sinking to the bottom. I thought it was a brilliant strategy. Probably twisted and evil but definitely brilliant!

I suggest that if you are going afk in pirates, you don't announce it. And the opposing team should beware of any person announcing they are going afk because they may just be trying to lure you in for the kill.

Well said!!! I'm not a good player and need more practice; so I will do most anything to try to win. If it means winning ugly, i'll do it. I may not be proud of it, but I'm trying to graduate to the next level.

The stay and shoot problem is not a problem at all. If a player chooses to stay in one spot the krakken will get that player or form him or her to move. Plus there are no rules saying that you can't stay in one spot. This is a bogus claim and you need to think before you post.

Yup.

Best to not start a game if you are likely to have to go afk. I have mystified my husband many times by not answering the door or the phone when I am in the middle of a game of ghosts or pirates. I've explained that I will not be rude to the people I am playing with (or against) by blowing off the game.

I just wanted to make sure you understand that I did not refer to hiding as cheating.... and there is nothing wrong with hanging back until the first firew maylee settles down.... but there are some that stay hidden the total game and it isnt until the rest of their team is dead (and we are looking around for who we missed since the game didnt end) do they come out of hiding... no fighting before then... not even a shot fired... they hope that the rest of their team wins it for them and they dont have to do anything... And again, I didnt even refer to THAT as cheating... I mearly said I was not fond of that stratigy... seems like a cowards way out.

Whenever someone is on the flag I just go up to them and find the best position so I can hit them but they can't hit me (they wouldn't move as they are trying to block the flag) and then I blow them out of the water and get the flag and I don't remember a time when I lost. The afk announcement strategy is a great idea. Maybe I should try that. There is another thing that ppl do. They go up and hide and shoot at anyone who comes near. I usually see these ppl anyway especially after they shoot and just go up and shoot them and usually take them down to davy jones locker. I sometimes do it when there are few ppl left. So these are the strategies in pirates that may help you win (some i thought myself, some i got from some of these posts and other ppl):
1. Get in a position so you can hit the opponent but they can't hit you. They may move so keep moving yourself. Examples: A T as long as you are the line at the top or a T where the line at the top is tilted. You may have seen AI always try to move into this position when trying to shoot you.
2. Hide at the top of the screen. This may work, it may not.
3. Announce that you are afk.
4. Sit and shoot but be careful of kraken.
5. Get as much booty as possible even when you don't need it. It may help if time runs out before a whole team is killed because then they reward who collects more booty.
That's all I can think of right now.

I think it should be illegal for all those people to continue heading straight towards me while I am sitting and shooting... they are looking to go boom in my book...

I also beleive sitting ON the flag is rude, those who feel they have no other way to protected it, do it (meaning they must be a lousy shot and are riding on the coatails of others to earn their credits for them) If that is the way they chose to play, and so so so many of you do... Even worse is when they die on the flag! This is actually cheating, as the other team has no possible way to get the flag. As to something that's not cheating I think you should do is use gold cannons. It doesn't take much skill whatsoever to use them, and I am always losing because of them...

The accuser is obviously crazy since no one in their right mind would do that for more than 10 seconds because then the Hydra or whatever it is takes some of your health away.

Booty is aquired whenever you shoot your opponent and you actually hit them. If no one has touched either flag and there is only one ship left then the team that shot their opponents the most wins. If you notice at the bottom of the screen it gives you a little "booty" count as you play. In Capture you tend to keep all the "booty" you get even if you get shot and sunk. But in Battle, if you get shot and sunk you lose a lot of the "booty" you collected. Some have even taken all my "booty".

I guess everyone gets something different from the game all this time I have been trying for bounty, turns out you can get booty. Who knew?

Um... I've played hundreds of games and I'm 99% sure that collecting items around the game does nothing but give you more of those items. I don't think you get points for them at all in either version of the game.

I've won several times playing capture by being the team that shot the other team more. More hits = more points = win.

I am queen of bad players...i've managed to get to the 3rd level but am told it is on the coat-tails of others...
So in regards to sitting and shooting... i'll do that if i am in a good position and the other team is in my line of fire. That is about the only time i can even aim straight. lol I move before the monster can get me though.
Flag sitting and road blocking should be illegal in every game! imop

Actually I did sit near the flag for awhile during one game and got a message that I would be booted from the game in 7 seconds if I didn't move. So.... that is already a rule I think. ( not that I was trying to cheat but I got distracted by real life for a moment!)
