I have to share this I am soooooo excited!! We are staying at the Beach Club in early June on the Concierge level. One of the planners from the resort called and told us about a new "Princess tea Party" at the Grand Floridian. I'm not sure of the exact name, but it sounded too good to pass up. This will be our 5yr olds third trip and she lives for the princess's. The tea party is booked for two (more can be added at an additonal cost), includes a princess cake, a collectable doll, and a personal "hello" from Princess Aurora! There is also a tiara, a bracelet, and some sort of take home certificate. They told me this is being booked for Concierge guests only till May 26th, then everyone can book it. If you have a little "Princess" this is too good to be true. I'll let you all know how it went when we get back!!!!!!

Trooper, my daughter, husband, and I attended this event last Fall. We had a wonderful time and I wrote about it in my trip report -- click here (just look for the post on that page entitled "Grand Floridian Day Two, Part 1").

I hope you have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear all about it. Take lots of pictures!

Wow, that is way too much money! I have two girls and I would not pay that much. There are plenty of places where you can meet Pricess Aurora for free.

Or, you could go to the Princess Character Breakfast to see her - which is usually like $60 for 2 adults & 2 children.

Or you could just have tea and cakes at the Grand Floridian dining room and still dress up if you want to.

Or book the Alice in Wonderland Tea Party which is probably more fun and no where near $200!!!! oh wait, looks like you can't do that anymore b/c they replaced it with the more expensive princes tea party.

Or visit Belle at the Magic Kingdom. Or Pocahontas at Animal Kingdom. They read stories for free!!! (well cost of admission to the park).

As for for the crown, doll and scrapbook - I know you could buy those in advance for less money. I always get my girls a crown in advance of our trip at Walmart for $3 each.

I know I am ranting, but is it completely necessary for Disney to put such a high price tag on tea, cupcakes and a story!!! Since when did they start charging outrageous prices for your kids to experience the magic!!! I thought it was just supposed to happen!! Guess not anymore since Michael Eisner took over.

And what happened to the Wonderland Tea Party. I've been waiting for my youngest to turn three before I booked it and now it looks like it is cancelled. I am sending Disney a very nasty email right now.

Just called Disney Dining to ask if they still offer the Wonderland Tea Party - and they do. She also said it shouldn't replace the Princess Tea Party b/c it is really popular but didn't sound too sure.

The Wonderland Tea party is $28 per child and they get peanut butter and jelly, rice crispy treats, tea (apple juice) and they design their own cupcakes.

Personally, I think that is much more reasonable. $200 is way out there (even for concierge guests!).

I am stilll sending an email to express that I don't think the Princess party should replace the Wonderland one.

Call me crazy  but I would pay that for DD and I to have a princess tea. I think it sounds fun and special and have read that attendance is VERY limited.

That's one of the terrific things about Disney, they have so many different experiences at so many different price levels--something for everyone! Personally, I have waited many years for my little princess princess: and really thought I would never get one, and I just can't wait to do all the girly things with her that I couldn't do with my boys!

This past trip I bought DD (16 mos at the time) two princess dresses at World of Disney and she doesn't even fit into them yet, lol. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity...I feel I've waited practically forever to buy pretty dresses! Besides, you should have seen her "modeling" them all over the store, she was even spinning around in front of the mirror saying "oooo." One of the CMs asked if we could stand her near the door to increase the sales of princess dresses, lol. How could I say no after that?!?

The wonderland party is not going anywhere!! There are options for everyone to see Princess Aurora, so I don't see how your rant is valid. There is a demand for events such as this and people are willing to pay the money. This has nothing to do with Eisner, everyone uses him as an escape goat.

By the way, I would send DD to the Wonderland party also if she wanted to go. I think it sounds terrific. What I like about the princess party is that unlike most of the kids activities, it is something we could do TOGETHER! :earsgirl: princess:

You're right. There are other options!

My whole point is I would not personally pay that price, when you could see her for free! And I can't believe Disney is actually charging that much.

I know there obviously are people out there who would pay that much but I think that is crazy. There is a limit to the amount you can spoil your children.

Not sure about that, I know some VERY spoiled children! ;) (Beyond belief, really!) I would do the tea just as much (if not more so) for myself than for DD to be honest. It is just exactly the type of thing I loved as a girl (and still do) but never got to do because my mom was a tomboy-type who really would have rather had me climbing trees than playing dress-up.

The way I see it, I guess, is that some people spend lots of money on the race car driving experience thing, which I would never do (not even for free), others spend tons of money to golf, which again I wouldn't do even for free...I prefer to spend mine on dolls and princess dresses and tea parties.

It's not just seeing Aurora that appeals to me. It's dressing up and going to tea, singing and dancing, and just having a fun time overall. It would be the total "experience" which certainly would be different from standing in a line at a park to get our two minutes with Aurora dressed in our shorts and sneakers.

I agree that it is overpriced, but many things in life are overpriced and we make the choice of how to spend our money. I think gas is way overpriced but it doesn't stop me from going anywhere.

people will pay why not charge it, it is a business!!

Wow! I'm going to book that one for my 6yo niece when we take her next month!
Since I have no little princesses, I'll be more than thrilled to shell out the bucks for her to experience that, and I'll even include the grandmother (my mom), who's coming with us also. princess:

First thing you learn in business.....

something is only WORTH what someone else is willing to pay for it!

::yes::

JCEMOM

I am with you on this one, I spent my life savings and then some trying to have kids, I was blessed with 2 beautiful princesses (TWINS!) who are now seven and planning their 2nd trip to Disney, am I taking them to the Tea Party?? You bet I am, I agree it is not for everyone and I certainly wouldnt put anyone down for saying it is overpriced or not worth it, but from what I have read, the people who HAVE gone to it say its just incredible. I think it will be something they remember for the rest of their lives...spoiled...not really I believe in quality not quantity we dont take them on vacation every year, so when we do go we do it Deluxe...First class and I can say that my DD's truly appreciate everything their father and I give them.

SO JC...you go girl...get that Tiara down from your closet and wear it proud!

My thoughts exactly-it makes me grateful that I do NOT have children :)

IMO, "Uncle Walt" would be spinning in his grave.

Actually there isn't, but to each his own.

There are alot of people on these boards who are waiting to make these reservations. Its one thing to comment on Disney's prices, but to insinuate people are crazy or spoiling their children for paying it just isnt very nice.

I am with Katiebug on this one. If you were given a product worth 200.00 I would gladly pay it for my two princesses. But they are just trading on parents desire to give they kids something special. Its the same princess at the princess breakfast and the baubles dont add up to more than 50.00 from what I have read from past attendees. But we want to give our kids the best thats out there, and if this cost 200.00 it must be the best.
Mine went to the princess breakfast and loved it, they even prefered it to Cinderallas breakfast. Next time we will do that again.
