New fast pass restrictions at the parks?

Last trip I went with three preschoolers and two 8 year olds (the preschoolers are among most infamous for the last minute I have to go to the bathroom). Luckily there are two adults that get in line and we explain that if they "wait until the last minute" and any time they have to leave the line, the persons (adult and child) that left will need to return to the BACK of the line. This is the same line rule they have in preschool and BELIEVE ME, they understand the rule. The adults, of course, frequently ask the children to go to the "potty" and take them about every two to three hours whether they say they have to or not. While I understand that young children who are so excited and distracted by Disney have a much harder time with the "potty", they still need to practice basic courtesy rules. This really limits the last minute trips but hey we all "wait too long" sometimes. WHAT WILL MOST SURPRISE YOU is that last trip this happened only three times (in one week) and most times the people in front of us invited us back to join our party. I have to admit this is also my rule about parades, whoever gets there first gets to be in the front.(unless invited) We always try to get to parades early but on occasions we have been at an attraction and a crowd has already formed. Again, I think it is basic courtesy which I want my children to experience. Even if I did not agree with the line cutting rule (which I do) it fits Disney's definition of line cutting and I also think children need to understand that "others" rules will be enforced and practiced by adults. Lastly, I protect my children by speaking out when somebody cuts in line in front of them. Yes, I am the one who says (politely)please go to the back of the line or I will call a CM and yes there are people who think I am being a "real jerk". I don't argue, I just call a CM and they have asked people to leave the line. If feel if my 3 year old can follow this rule so can the adults.

I remember you from another post. You are the one who doesn't understand small children, right?

Obviously,if you had been blessed with children you would know that you can't always take care of these matters ahead of time.

Maybe you should spend more time doing something else (hee hee) rather than posting on these boards.

Ah, no, I think you have mistaken me for someone else.
I understand children quite well and was blessed with three.
I will do what I wish with my time, thank you.

And, I could care less if one adult is joining another adult.

Now, loads of folks joining one person in line - that's a problem.

Gabrielle, Thank you, you must be one of the kind persons that invited us to rejoin the line. I don't speak out EVERYTIME and have frequently invited people ahead of us, expecially when families get "split" because the children are so anxious to get on a ride that they don't wait for the rest of their party. At times this upset the 8 year olds but we talked about tolerance and "what goes around, comes around" There does come a point where it is inconsiderate for a variety of reasons. My favorite was the man we sat beside at Fantasmic. He tried to save seats for 12 (I AM NOT KIDDING) people for an hour and one half before his party arrived. He wanted to save the middle of the row. It was comical watching one person trying to keep both sides from sliding in, as we were continually instructed by the CMS. He was very rude to us so the CM handled him.

But you know what Mz Gail Hayden...sometimes it's Mother nature's call....When you gotta go you gotta go. Btw I don't assume... And let's not penalize people who need to go. Some people don't have a good bladder. Oh let's not talk about Depends OK?

It's just a matter of being considerate to others in line. If someone in front of me needs to use the bathroom, I don't mind holding the space until she/he gets back. Now if I have to save room for 4, 5, 10 people, that could be a huge problem!

Possibly.

LOLOLOL

I both let people join their party, & will go to bathroom/get a fastpass & rejoin line. It is just me going to the fastpass, & I am not extending the wait of anyone in line. When mom takes kids to the potty, I wait. There are 4 girls, & 1 of me, so I do not see that to be fair, because then we are affecting other's wait time. I have never had a problem with someone rejoining the line with their family.

Actually, I have no problem with someone leaving the line for a potty call and happily let them back in, heck, I have even offered to hold their place, not a big deal to me. However, if it is Disney's policy to not allow people back in line, it should be respected.

I would never mention Depends (whenever I have it has been a joke) how tacky!!!!

There was no need to be snotty with your reply. If you cannot take someone's opinion, then please don't set yourself up for it.

Thanks for agreeing with me. Some people will never understand these things. So far with all the trips we have taken, most of the families in line are very understanding and they know exactly what is going on and knows what needs to be taken care of.

I'm glad you agree. I am very fortunate that no CMs have stopped me from getting back in line. They see me and my child head back in our line and they just smile at us. I'm quite sure they know where we've been...to the bathroom. And they know we didn't do the "cut in front of the line." They have seen us in line.

You are absolutely correct, it does not extend the wait time in the least. What it does do, however, it cause a disturbance in the line which bothers a lot of people ( I don't happen to be one, I can move and be curteous to others) and has been known to cause fights. Sometimes policies seem pretty dumb, but, since neither one of us writes them and we agree to obey the policies when we enter a park, it pretty much leaves us at the mercy of these policies.

I disagree this wan't line cutting, my wife was already in line, again what if I had to go to the bathroom and got out of line for that. I think the CM really had to lighten up. The people around us couldn't belive what the CM was doing and actually even asked him to stop and that we where in the right.

Not to get this thread BACK ON TRACK... but...

When we were there in July, at 9am, as the rest of the park opened (we were at EMH), we entered Liberty Square at HM... the FP return for HM was 12:50-1:50pm. Also, we noticed that morning that FP return for Pooh at 8am on EMH was 10:30-11:30am.

So, I did notice that the starting return times for FP were staggered.

Ok, back to your line cutting hijack... lol

Ha ha ha ha Karen...you're too cute! :p I thought we were done talking about the FP?!

I have read that some of the Fastpass machines at Disneyland are not connected to the same computer. For example, you get a fast pass at pirates then go to Indiana Jones and can get another since these fastpass machines are not using the same "brain". Does anyone know if all the machines are connected by this same "brain."? :smooth:
