New Epcot Film is Great!!!!

We saw the new film in Canada at Epcot today and it is great. Martin Short is wonderful in it and proudly proclaims that he grew up in Canada. There are a couple of scenes from the old movie -- the RCMP musical ride is still there but the vast majority of the film is new and is great. The narrative is wonderful as well! Finally, something that really reflects what Canada is. The CM's also seem happy with it as well.

We kept checking in last week, up unitl Thursday, hoping for a soft opening of the new movie. I know the Ottawa Citizen reported it opening the 25th. No luck! Glad to hear it was good. It will be something for us to look forward to on our next trip! We did enjoy lots of new things this year. Kids loved The Monsters attraction at MK. We all loved the Nemo ride at EPCOT and the show at AK! Nice to have new things to look forward to!

Thanks for the report! Is the Canada song now a solo rather than a duet? I like Ava's voice, but I also love the old duet arrangement.

We just got back and saw it on saturday.
I agree, it is very good.
It has humor in it, which is great. It is much better than the other one!!

My only complaint is that they went from Calgary to Toronto and skipped everything in between there!!
(Also no mention of West Edmonton Mall, the biggest mall in the world!!)

But the CMs are very happy with it. There are lots of beautiful pictures on it. The beginning is also very funny!

We saw it twice on the first day it opened up and the kids asked to go see it again the next day! I love that they kept the "Canada, my Canada" song at the end and now sung in both French and English. I asked if it was out on CD, but they said not yet. I believe it's just Ava singing and not a duet. Would love to get a copy of it as my DD and I just love it and can't get the tune out of our heads! The only part I cringed at a bit was when they were showing the Calgary Stampede and there was a steer being roped and it looks like it's neck is really being twisted as it goes to the ground. A lot of folks in audience gasped. Wish they hadn't put that part in. All in all, a great 14 minutes - lots of variety, diversity and comedy. Jo

Thanks for the report now that I know it is updated I can be sure to avoid it. I am very dissapointed they updated it I loved the old film and do not even want to see the new one Martin Short or not.

So, does Martin Short go into character as my namesake in the film? I wish I could say the handsome devil in my avatar pic is me, but alas it is Martin Short in his most brilliant character, I must say, Ed Grimley.

We had the priviledge of being able to attend the first official screening. When they show Butchart Gardens - it's our family saying yay!. Awesome movie. A little disappointing that Disney didn't have more fanfair for the first showing though.
