New Englanders

DH has been shoveling for two hours - his office closed for the day, too. He'll probably need to go back out later, once things quiet down.

It looks like about 15"-16" so far, but still coming down and blowing around. DH had to carve out space in the yard for the dog, since the snow is deeper than he is tall - he couldn't possibly go out!

Pam hope the kids are helping him! ours is all powder and the wind is insane right now. Like trees bent over insane! Bay had to go out this am at 3 it was almost to her belly and well lets just say she stood back up fast:):rotfl: i was in the door giggiling. for a bit she played while tom was cleaning off the truck but at the first face full she cam back in and now buried in the blanket on the couch!!

They keep saying 3 more inches here but we've had long past that now. I'm thinking if it doesn't blow away we're going to have close to 20"

We just came in from shoveling. New law in Massachusetts if someone falls and gets hurt on your sidewalk and you haven't made a "reasonable" effort to clear it, you can get sued. Of course, the sidewalk plow did not do in front of our house at ALL. They usually do, and take our decorative bricks with them, so I guess it's six of one, half dozen of another... :lmao:

It looks like about a foot out there, but there is a lot of blowing around.

I am guessing about 9 " total - we just got in from snowblowing - the driveway is clear as is the sidewalk - the drifts are quite high, well over a foot. It appears the eastern end of the state got quite a bit more than us - my dd lives on the RI/MA line and she had over a foot. The snow has stopped but the high winds persist.

Adding - the beautiful sun has just come out!!!!

Well my invisible force field worked! I'd say we got about 6-9 inches. The wind is the worst part and I can't tell how much we really got. The front yard is bare, I can see grass. LOL
The driveway however is down in a hole so there is huge drifts of snow in it. Our plow guy never showed, he did mom's house but not mine. ERGH!!

So DH borrowed dad's snow blower and made a path to get out. I have a friend coming over later to plow out the rest of the way.

No one (here) helped him - he enjoys doing it slowly himself. ARRGGGHHHH! Finally came in after four hours! Neighbor snowblowed the sidewalk and our walkway up to our stairs, so that helped a lot!

Looks like the show has finally stopped now, but those winds are still absolutely incredible. About 17-18 inches here. Yes, Christy - thank heavens it was powdery here also!

I think we got about 18-20 inches. Hard to tell because of the drifting. There were portions this morning that were over 3 feet!

I snowblew (is that the past tense?) once last night so DH could get into the driveway, then DH did it again this morning so I could get out. That snowblower is worth it's weight in gold - I  it so much! My wonderful Dad came over this afternoon once it stopped to clean up what had accumulated after DH went to work. Glad it's done!

We had about 12 inches, hard to tell with all the wind blowing. DH snowblowed for an hour with the wind it didn't look like he touched it. He brought me into work then went over to clean out my Mom's driveway. Turned out the office was closed and no one was kind enough to tell me, even when I spoke to a colleague this morning. :headache:

Warm wishes for all of the folks dealing with the great nor'easter of 2010. Snuggle in and stay safe.

talked to my friend in Bridgewater NJ they have about 20 inches, hating the wind....stay warm tonight everyone!

The wind is really bad. It was almost howling out there last night and it's still quite windy this morning.

Winds finally died down late last night/early this morning.

But it is cold as all get out!! Staying in today and doing house work.

Main roads are all clear here now - secondary ones are fair. They said in the 20's but it is 34 here, have done a number of errands, snow is melting (our home is south facing)and that is a plus. Did you see that by Fri it will be in the high 40's and 50's by the weekend? Weird weather.

We got about 15 inches. I of course had to work sunday night and monday night. we were told we couldn't call out. Sunday into monday there were 36 call outs into the hospital. I made it in and home and back in thanks to my hubby for shoveling me out. I was fine until after working a 12 hour shift and got out to me van and was plowed in by the people clearing the parking lot. Nothing worse than having to shovel out the car after working all night. I think that the people plowing should have to at least shovel the cars out after they plow you in. they were still in the parking lot and laughing at all of us having to shovel. I am now off for 4 nights. Yeah

Oh my bearbear~ that is awful.. had they plowed me and were laughing all heck would have broken lose... they would have been digging me out either voluntarily or by force!

Bearbear, that is just awful. I would definitely be calling whomever was in charge to lodge a complaint.

They don't care. I've worked there for 16 years and things will never change. I am working on my exit plan.
