New England Family Vacations

small world indeed!! I moved from Danby to Granville about 8 years ago-we love it here:cool1:

We really LOVE Disney though:wizard:

I have a thread about our last train trip down on the transportation boards.
We will have to have a get together next time one of us is planning to head down!!We are waiting until the construction is done in 2013

Another funny! We sold our house in Danby in 2006 when we built our house in Tinmouth!

If you were in Danby then we must know each other.I was in 4 corners-lisa and jeff ackert

I know of the name Ackert but we only lived there for 7 years and had no kids in school and really did not get to know a lot of people. Shelley and Jeremy Nemeth, we lived on Tifft Road next door to Pete Powers. We had bought the house as a foreclosure and never planned to stay. We were just waiting for the right land to come along so we could build.

Small world!

How about North Conway, NH. You can find hotels, motels in various price ranges. I dont' know how old your children are but they have Story Land, Santa's Village, North Conway Railroad, miniature golf, tons of restaurants, some shopping and the Kangamangus Highway has lots of picnic, hiking places to visit. We love it and go every year. Lots to do. Lots of beautiful sites like waterfalls, mountains.

another vote for white mountains,
you can find some very nice affordable hotels

We're going to a wedding in Gloucester, MA in late June. Hotels were $200+ with a 2 night minimum. We're staying at Comfort Inn in Danvers, about 40 minutes away for $45 with a Priceline bid.
I don't think it will take you 40 min to get from Danvers to Gloucester. I suppose it could during traffic times on rt 128.........but anyway,
we have stayed at this hotel
http://www.vistamotel.com/packages/

It is in Gloucester. across from Good Harbor Beach. It is clean and affordable. and a good location.

We also really like going to Mystic CT. There is so much to see and do there! Aquarium, Mystic Seaport, go on a real submarine, endless options.

If you're in the Mytic area, you can also include the Groton Sub base. The kids can explore the subs and climb on all the equipment.[/QUOTE]

I agree. We've gone the past 2 Easter vacations with the kids and had a ball!

We got a great deal at smugglers notch in july. For taking a time share tour our price went from $3500 for the week to $1700 for a two bedroom condo. I think the offer is available to everyone. That includes all the pools and a ton of entertainment. they are at www.smuggs.com. It was a great deal. August was slightly higher.

you have a lot of good suggestions but I have to add in Hampton Beach, NH

Yuck-do not go to Hampton Beach! It is gross. It is a big strip of tacky shops with teeny boppers and low lifes walking around with barely anything on. Do not go to this beach. I never take my kids to this beach. We go to Salisbury Reservation. Much more relaxing for a family. Also, York beach is way nicer. I loave York-long Sands if you want only the beach, short sands if you want the zoo and rides, shops, etc.
