...the way non-New Englanders mispronounce town names?
I was just watching the end of an infomercial (waiting for the next show) and they were talking about seminars in WOE-burn (for those of you outside NE it's WOO-burn) and bill-a-REEK-a (it's really bill-RICK-a).
The other one I loved was, when I lived there, telemarketers used to call it DEAD-ham (DEAD-um).
Don't you think these people should do their homework?

WAH-dah = water, for example. LOL
Around here they say "QuinZy", I say "Quincy". Also, how about the city of New Orleans? People who live there say "Nawlins". Not too many non-residents pronounce it that way. It's not a big deal, in the grand scheme of things. I don't think it's a matter of people doing their homework or not. A person usually looks at a word and if they're even semi-literate, they can figure out how to pronounce it.
