SO after lurking around the Disboards and looking around . we finally bought 220 points in the Grand californian. This was something we were offered as part f the webcast.
Had a quick question. Is home resrot very important if you tend to travel more around than in the home resort area.

Also we wantedto start working on the 2011 cruise but to get something good we need 3 years worth of points. would we be able to reserve t now or i need to wait for my next use year (June) and banl the points i have now and borrow after June to actually get a reservation in the cruise.

As I have found home resort is everything. may not seem like much but four months of booking time equals alot of rooms.

Don't know about the cruise part of your question, but with DVC the idea is to buy where you want to stay most. You have the 11 month window at your home resort and 7 months elsewhere. For example I know that I want to stay at the GCV for the first weekend of F&W (to do the cooking school) and the last weekend (for the taste event), there are two other events during the year that we want to stay on Saturday night so we bought at GCV so we can book those events that we want at 11 months. There are other nights we may want to stay, but they are not necessarily annual events, we can still use our SSR points for those nights if there is availability at the 7 month mark or less, but the idea is if you really want to stay there buy points so you can have the 11 month availability!

Congratulations and Welcome Home!!!

I had planned to use points for a 3-day cruise we are taking in Nov 2011, but it worked out to be cheap enough to pay with cash, so I still have my points to extend our stay on land.

Good luck!!!

:welcome: to disboards

Also, congratulations on your purchase and :welcome: home!
