New DVC!!!!

So while on our Disney Fantasy cruise last week we took the plunge and joined DVC!!! We are SUPER EXCITED!!! I already have like 3 years of vacations I wanna take lined up! So with that being said....Any tips, tricks, or info that I need to know? Throw it all at me!

Congrats! Make sure you book as close to the 11 month window as possible so that you can be assured you get the accommodations you want. Where did you buy?

As another post said be sure to use your 11 month booking window especially for late November and early December trips when DW and the resorts really shine. I am watching Aulani on AFV right now and I can't wait to take a trip there too. Wow - ain't life grand

Thanks everyone! They were offering 20 points for every 100 points and OBC for the cruise. We bought into AKL and our use year starts in December. I've already got a cruise picked out for next May and possibly a MNSHP or MVMC this year.....Hope I can get a room!

I would think hard and fast to verify that you got the home resort that you really wanted and the you bought the correct UY and number of points that you really need.

The DVD Guides are sometimes fast and lose with making a sale and they don't tell you that you can buy any resort and any UY that works best for you.

I believe that you have 10 days after signing to make changes if you so desire.

Congratulations and Welcome Home.

It was the best thing we have ever bought and only took 8 years to convince my Husband that we should buy into DVC. Only mistake we made was not doing the research before we bought (and you would have thought for 8 years I would have done some research.)

Now we are looking at buying more points and doing the complete research and learning more even after a few years of owning.

The fact that you're already looking to travel during the fall tells me that a December UY might not be your best choice.

October. If you don't know why I suggest that you cancel your contract and spend some time learning the finer points of DVC ownership.(The things that your salesperson didn't tell you).

It' really easy to get caught up in the excitement and emotion of being a DVC owner and Disney takes advantage of that fact. I will bet that most buyers go home trying to remember what was discussed. They don't learn the rules, policies, restrictions, and benefits of ownership until it's too late to modify their purchase.
