We've been speculating about this for quite some time on the DVC boards.

It's nothing more than a billboard advertising the coming of... well.... a new billboard.

Go figure? :confused3

Do they realize that DVC is like the worst kept secret ever?

As each year passes, I wonder how they can still call it a "secret."

True enough, it's not a secret to those of us here on DIS boards. We all follow the goings on with Disney one way or another.

Now, take your average WDW Joe Shmo visitor, and he will have no idea. Heck, he will even say "I'm leaving Epcot to go to Disney World."

I was at a DVC Member Update, and the host told us that surveys showed 2% of guests knew what DVC was. Since the on-slaught of marketing, that percentage has climbed to 3%.

So do you think the DVC marketing staff is pumped?
I mean a 50% increase in consumer product awareness.
That is really impressive (tongue not in cheek) !

I don't know, when Joe Shmo practicaly trips over a DVC kiosk any where he goes on property, he must suspect it's less of a secret then they claim it is........

My guess is that a certain portion of that 97% has heard about DVC, and that it is some sort of timeshare, and simply choose not to learn anything else.

If you own DVC and something comes up, That 's all the more for you to enjoy.

We just got back from WDW 2/1/06, and did the open house for the DVC. Our guide confirmed that the next phase was to be built at the CR, with the Poly being next. They are giving large discounts for people who purchas the last phase of SSR, whichi I am not interested in because of location.
BUT, I would SERIOUSLY consider purchasing at the CR, especially if the rooms look like the renovated one we had this past 2 weeks! GORGEOUS!
Also, on the in-house vacation club channel, it shows a family walking throught the concourse pointing at the monorail before moving on to the next DVC resorts.

DVC at CR and the Poly?!! Thanks for making my day, mbaker1277!!
:woohoo:  :Pinkbounc

I had vaguely heard of DVC but here in UK timeshares have a bad name. On our trip in 2004 we did the tour of Saratoga Springs Resort and was so impressed we bought there and then on the spot.

I have not stopped smiling since!!!

We have already used points to stay at Saratogo Springs, go to Disneyland Paris and are staying a week at the Ocean here in UK next week and still have enough points to take two other families with us when we come over to WDW in October.

I just can't wait to see what is "coming soon"

Did your guide also try to sell you an interest in a brooklyn bridge?? :teeth:

time will tell!

I only recall seeing the Monorail run through the Concourse of the CR on the DVC channel, not the Brooklyn bridge. Believe it or not, it's o.k. by me. I was there, that's what I was told, and it makes sense.
There is a good bit of room to expand around the Poly, and Disney is testing out new family suites at the All Stars, so why not try to add DVC to the most popular resorts if they have room? It worked for the WL, BW, and BC.

What would be the possibility of an all suite deluxe hotel going up next to the Poly??

At some point you cannibalize your own market. Those who would pay $300+ a night at the POLY -buy into DVC and then no longer stay or pay that much for staying at the Poly...you gain DVC members but lose Poly paying guests and you spend quite a bit to "capture" a market you already had...
