New DVC resort

I just got back from the DIS had a great week at the yacht club. When I was there I was talking to some CMs and they were telling me about a new DVC resort that should have monorail acces. It was going to be where an old dixie landing used to be. Im not familiar with the magic kingdom resorts so Im not sure where it is. Another intersting fact was that one of the boat captains in the epcot resorts said if you look at the swan and dolphin the rooms in middle of the hotel that are surrounded by black paint was a second thouht they were originally openings that the monorail was gonna go through. That would have been nice.

The Old Dixie Landings resort is still there. It is now called Port Orleans - Riverside. It is not on the monorail or near the MK.

I think someone was pulling your leg on both counts.

I agree on the leg pulling! Dixie Landings is now PORS, and nowhere NEAR a monorail. Swan and Dophin aren't even owned by Disney.

There is a rumor going around that part of the Contemporary may become DVC. Who knows? But I think definitely that they won't be extending the monorail to other parts of their property. We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and they gave us the amount it costs per foot to extend the monorail and it was astronomical.

Perhaps that should be "landing strip" rather than "dixie landing". (A landing by any other name........) That would align it with several other interesting rumors regarding plans to build the new DVC property on the STOL strip near the Contemporary.

I have heard information about the S&D middle sections many times over the years, from both boat captains and peeps who work the hotels. Not about them being an after-thought but rather something about them being 'removable' should the monorail system ever expanded...but even hearing it from multiple sources I wouldnt bet the farm on that.

If you check out some of the other buildings the same architect designed, they also have the dark area in the center of the building.

If they did plan to put a monorail through the S&D, they monorail station would have to be right in the middle of the rooms and not in the lobby area.

disney does not own D&S - so no monrail - not until the property goes back to Disney.....if then....

they would put one in the BC & YC first!!!

but first they would connect their parks.....

the monrail is too expensive - but maybe the light rail - might be an alternative...

Actually, is there not something in the SSR purchasing agreement about Disney reserving the right to expand the monorail through that resort?

Personally, I think that is pretty cool. Not because I think that is going to happen, but I am sure that are a few people who are swayed in their decision by that clause.

Maybe if they need to boost sales further they should also add a clause about Disney reserving the right to build a new theme park next door.

I think all the deeds have a monorail right of way, nothing special about SSR and no suggestion it might actually happen.
