My brother gave his DVC membership to me recently. Since we're family, we're not bothering with altering the deed etc. He just added me as an associate member to the account and changed all the info for the primary account to my info.

I know that you need a blue card for certain perks, which I can't take advantage of, because the card is still under his name.

My question is, are DVC discounts for tickets, annual passes etc better than being a FL resident?

FL residents get better ticket deals. APs are priced the same but FL residents have more options than DVC members. DVC blue card members get better merchandise discounts than non-AP guests. Blue card members also get to participate in Membership Extras (when they're offered).

No really. There are a number of limited access FL resident passes that are not available to anyone else. These are not being sold right now, of course, but will probably come back. The discounts for DVC is the ability to by a Gold Pass, which is normally only for FL residents and a small discount on the Platinum pass. You also get similar food and shopping discounts to those that AP members get.

FL Residents can also make interest free monthly payments on annual passes.

Great, thanks all! I was searching around and I do know I won't be able to take advantage of certain things like the member lounge at Epcot.

The Gold Pass has been available to both DVC & FL Resident since that pass level was first created.

My wife and I got a substantial discount in April at WDW when we renewed and upgraded to Platinum. Perhaps discounts have changed. I just checked. We saved just under $400 compared to the price paid by the general public.

Before we moved to SW Florida, we had annual passes of various types (until they got too expensive). The last AP we had as non-residents was the Gold Pass. Now we have purchased the Weekday pass (Mon through Fri only, not summer-who would go then anyway, not Christmas or Easter) and it is cheaper than the Gold Pass. We get the same discounts. But there currently are no Florida Resident passes, just that four day ticket.

where does one find a list of all the places that honor the blue card for discounts?
