So disappointed. Hopefully it's not completed yet as it is only a soft opening. I saw a picture of the new dumbo signage from the opening today. It read "must transfer" with the little picture of the person rising from the wheelchair. I saw this because my son has been having me check everyday to see if it would be like the flying carpets where he can stay in his wheelchair. Not yet. He was looking forward to riding it again. But we will have little mermaid to look forward to. Probably not for this october's trip, but it's coming.
Is there an insider that might know the long term plan for the new dumbo?
Thanks.

the open one is the new one they built the other one will be the one they moved from the old spot. so i don't think they are able to do it dumbo car may be to small the carpets and the one in ak are can hold four guest two in front and two in back. which means they have the room to make a wheelchair car the dumbo is a one seat and may not be long enough to be able to handle a wheelchair like the other two rides.

Hi, that would have been great! My DD likes to stay in her chair on rides. Also, its much easier on her Dad!

Just to vent for a minute the ride at AK where you can stay in your chair has been broke for well over a year. We went in Apr. /10 waited in a loooooong line only to find out that it was not able to take a chair. We returned in Nov./11 and its still not able to take a chair! Thats a long time!!!!

Update. Thanks for your response about the length of the car. That makes since. On another website someone posted a picture that shows a different car with a hinge that looks like a door that could be opened for an easier transfer. Kinda like the old dumbo had. Hope that will work. Lol. Last time we were there I took my son on snow white. Transferred okay - just couldn't get him out. Finally did it but bruised him up pretty badly. Don't want this to happen on dumbo. He still calls it his snow white injury. But we really enjoyed the ride. Glad we did it since it is closing. He said he might have become an urban legend Like in the song about the guy on the subway -riding snow white forever..

The length of the ride vehicle would make a difference.

This is a picture of the transfer car on the old Dumbo. The side swings away for easier transfer. Still not easy because it is very low, but we were able to transfer DD into it.

In this picture, you can see how low it is

The accessible ride vehicle at Winnie the Pooh is broken too and out for repairs. I found that out the hard way last weekend after waiting in a long line. The grandkids still got to ride with their parents, but I didn't get to enjoy seeing their little faces. I was SO disappointed, and with the ride vehicle repair at DAK taking so long, I wonder how long the accessible vehicle here will be out of service? For some of us who can ride so little, just one attraction being down is a really big deal.

Agree
While we can transfer DD, each time there is not an accessible ride car means lifting 85 pound DD twice. Hard on us and her. We count on those attractions where we don't need to transfer helping us conserve energy for those without accessible ride cars. Especially important to us when she is having a bad day and can't ride anything if we have to transfer her.
