Well sisters...I have still been lurking here. I should be getting very excited about my trip but I am very sad since it is probably not going to happen. I've known now for a while but I haven't wanted to say anything (seems like admitting it will make it real!).

Two of our small business employees quit at the same time as of yesterday (unrelated causes), so my DH will have to fill in for them unless some miracle occurs and we hire replacements.

So far I have not canceled our reservation due to hoping for that miracle.

Since 2 of our nights were comped I don't know if they will let us use them at a later time. We already had received a 6 month good will extension on them.

Here's my on topic question...

Dreamflight...if I should call to try rescheduling the free nights, do you think I should call reservations directly or to the S/D contact (someone's secretary I believe)? I hate to ask the S/D contact because she didn't seem too happy with me asking for an extension the first time!

I sure don't want to miss my time in my heavenly bed.

Sorry to be such a wet blanket!

Oh, Debbie....~Nooooo. :worried: :worried: :worried: I recall when you were excited about the plans, and would stop by occasionally to chat. I'm hoping for the MIRACLE. :goodvibes:

*But...in case it does not happen, here's my .2 cents. I would call the reservation department at the resort, (during the week, when the lifers are in), and "explain" the situation. The associate should be sympathetic, and understanding. Request to "reschedule" the entire trip, COMP eves and all. This should not be a problem. Wait as long as you need to, within a 48 hour time frame. Call as soon as you are confident the trip is not going to happen.

I'm so sorry for all your troubles. :guilty: What a terrible thing to have happen so close to your plans. Think happy and positive thoughts (this is tough...I know), and keep dreaming of the MAGIC. When it finally happens...it will be worth the wait! It's always wonderful to hear from you, even under these circumstances. Try to focus on the blessings in your life...good health, happiness, etc. Your cup is still more "full" than empty!
I'll be here for you, if you need a shoulder and/or any other suggestions/support.

 Right back at you Bambi.

:grouphug: Hugs all around. And Happy Friday!!

Sorry about your troubles, Debbie. I was wondering where you were since we're the same kind of short timers. :(

Well I'll tell you, DD9 and I decided to go it alone when DH had to start on a new job. I was undecided and then I took inspiration from my girlfriend in CA drove here to TX over Christmas with her DS2. :earseek: I asked her how in the world did she do that and she said: plenty of good music and I didn't get in a hurry.

I decided that when I travel, I'd stop overnight in Pensacola on the way and I went on Priceline yesterday and was able to get a room which normally runs $90 for 40 plus tax. DD can take a dip in the pool on the way and we can start out refreshed with little more than 5 hours to go. I'm so psyched. As I sit in Houston traffic day after day I tell myself, it'll be so much better on the open road. I've started lining up my CD's and some DVD's for DD.

But- Everyone has different comfort zones for traveling, so I hope you can work things out to your satisfaction. Especially with the comp nights. As DF says, they should be willing to help you. You may have caught the S/D contact on the wrong day.

Sunny side of the street
Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your worry at the doorstep
Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street
Can't you hear that pitter pat and that happy tune is your step
Life can be so sweet on the sunny side of the street

I used to walk in the shade with those blues on parade
But I'm not afraid 'cause this rover, crossed over

If I never had a cent I'll be as rich as Rockfeller
Gold dust at my feet on the sunny side of the street

HI gang....

It's been great reading all about the up coming trips.....Have a great time Mom Poppins...

and DF once again you have a way with words...

LIfe is still nuts here but we have a NEW diagnosis for DD12 BI-POLAR....sounds very scary but after the 2 weeks we have had I'm glad to have something to discribe some of the problems....They have started meds...so I'm hoping for signs that things are getting better in a few weeks...

My step mother is at radiation treatment 12 out of 20 ...she just went and shaved her head today as all her hair was falling out....but she did open today's gift and it was the "cashmere" soft hat I purchased ( I sent her a box with 20 gifts for her to open everyday after her treatment....It seems to have been a great idea as her spirits are up) She asked if we would be driving to WDW anytime soon so we could stop by.....don't think we will be driving to disney...but looks like we will be scheduling a trip for her to see us and the kids again...I'm hoping we will have a little time gained after these treatments....6 to 12 months...

I've also been dreaming about winning the lottery and calling the S/D reservationist and getting a presidential suite...wouldn't that be SWEET.....:teeth: :teeth: :earseek: Abosolute luxury and WDW all the same time..... and I'd do it during the warm months so I can enjoy the Grotto pool...::yes:: ::yes::

have a good weekend...:wave2:

ZW~ what a great idea - sending a gift after each treatment. I hope her spirits are still up. You are certainly helping. I, too, have the same dream re: lottery - and I'm not greedy...I'd only need to win a million to be happy. :hyper: I'd take a King turret room with the 2 balconies or an Executive suite since the Presidential suite is reserved by you. LOL

...zurgswife and jgates, for stopping by on the Prayers and Pixie Dust for Roy thread... keep those prayers coming!

Hi!

I've been lurking on these boards for months. I so appreciate all of the information that you so generously share with everyone.

My SIL, MIL, DH and I are planning a weeklong trip from November 29 through Dec 7, and we've decided to stay at the either the Swan or the Dolphin based upon all the great things you have to say about the resorts.

Do you know if the teacher rates have been released for November and December? We are little anxious about making our ressies. I know it is a slow time of the year, but now we really want to stay at the S-D. I checked on Dream's website, and the teacher rate either isn't available for our time period or the rates haven't been released.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much for everything!

You could try calling Dreams to see how far out the dates stretch - it might give you an idea of when to call back again.

That update on Roy sounded fairly good. Fingers and toes are crossed!

What a wonderful thing for you to do Zurgswife. You are a great step daughter. It was really thoughtful and caring of you.

Happy Saturday to all!!:bounce:

Zurgswife, You are dealing with so much in such a positive way!
My prayers and thoughts are with you and your whole family  !

LisaBC, hey fellow NYer!! Hope you get your teacher rate - I sort of can't believe I was able to. :earseek: Such a wonderful profession and a perk in the "happiest place on earth!":sunny:

Have a good day!

More hugs to ZW! I think the 20 gift idea sounds wonderful!

So does this mean if we all win the lottery all of the suites are going to be permanantly owned by one of us? COOL! I rarely play the lottery, but the kids have always known that the first thing on the agenda was three weeks at Disney to sort everything out, in the fanciest, most extravagant suite there was at whatever location they wanted.

Good thing I rarely play... no disapointment!

Frequently they have dates that aren't available through other sources. They have a page there that you control dates/settings on rather than asking for a quote. This way you can see what dates are coming up at what prices.

What a great Saturday -55 here- i love it!!! Finally i get a chance to tell you we had a great vacation atDisney - just love the Dolphin - stayed in our favorite 11th floor room, right in the middle and it felt like a second home - i wish... Love the breakfast brunch at Fresh - they make the best omelets!!! Parks were more crowded last week than we can remember but in a few years when we retire from teaching, then we won't be locked into high volume weeks!!!
We did take the Segway tour at Epcot- what a great time, those segways are amazing, and keeping your balance was much easier than we thought. Ok, ok, so i did fly over the handlebars 1 time - turned left too sharply, but as i got up saying "I'm ok" and my left "cheek" was really sore, i got back on and we continued. You should try it - so incredible.
My student trip is 1 week from Monday - my kids are so excited. I am so lucky to have this chance to watch these kids as they experience the magic of Disney for the first time. Most of them are my own sixth graders this year- fundraising helped them a lot and they should be proud of what they accomplished.
Hope you all have a great Saturday and weekend. Caroline :teacher:

:wave2: Hi, Caroline. Thanks for the report on your trip. We have a touch of spring fever here in the Boston 'burbs, too!

I agree about the time when we teachers can travel during more off times and not high travel times of the year.

I have a couple of questions I hope someone here can answer.

What typesof views are seen from the CL at both the Swan or Dolphin?

How did you enjoy the CL at either resort.

Lastly, which roooms do have an EPCOT view.

My husband and I want to spend our 10th anniversary at one of these beautiful resorts and we are having a hard time picking which one. He keeps going on and on about the view, so I thought I'd ask here.

Jgates, thanks for the idea, I’ll try to contact Dreams to see what I can find out

Hello to you Dismom! Today has been lovely even with the 2 feet of snow still on the ground; it is still nice to have a sunny and milder day. This brutal winter makes me want to move our trip to S-D ahead several months. But, we really want to experience the parks with the Christmas decorations.

Since we’ll be visiting during December will we be able to bring a few decorations for our room at the S-D? Just curious to know if the resort would allows us to have a small (2ft tree) or some garland) just to keep things festive.
:bounce:

I have been busy with Sorority stuff and things and my trip reports so I've been a lurker over here lately!

Lisa BC~ Christmas decorations? I always bring a small tree, one of those super sucker suction cup hooks to hang a wreath, and a lighted decorated garland which I hand around the bathroom mirror for a special night light effect! LOL! I like to glow during the holidays! So GO for it...! If I could get my husband to strap the grapevine reindeer on the luggage rack, I would bring him, too!

sm4987~ If view is important, I believe the Dolphin CL level is much higher than the Swan CL level which is on the 12th floor. We stayed on Swan CL but our view was of the front of the hotel, beautiful... but I believe you are looking for spectacular, right? I'd say Dolphin... although I do LOVE MaMa T over at the Swan!! ::yes::

lovingthemouse~ OOO! The Sedgeway tour sounds like fun! They didn't have that for my solo trip! Just the CM's who were tootling around on them! That sounds like a must do for me next trip! Thanks for stopping by!

zurgswife~ You know how we feel about you! :grouphug: Brighter days are ahead...!
