NEW DLR App Update - Get new LL Return Time without Cancelling LL you hold.

I have not modified anything yet (using WDW app), but for an average guest this is a well hidden feature that they will not find and basically a new refresh screen.
Cannot modify ILL$.

Modified my first LL for Tower. Easy process so far. The 2 hour window stayed the same as when I originally booked.

Curious to see screen shots. When you say it is a new refresh screen, does that mean we can book a LL, go to modify, and then refresh until a better slot comes along and snag it?

This seems like a good feature. You can update your selection for whatever reason without loosing the time it has already been selected for. It still depends on availability but it should help in case of emergencies and stuff.

Isn't this how the WDW former Fastpass worked...or maybe even Maxpass?? I'm trying to remember, but I thought you simply selected Modify, but nothing changed until you accepted the new updated info (ride, time, people etc)?
It is great of it does not change your two hour countdown window (for getting another). I have not used Genie+, but will be this weekend (at DL), so I appreciate all of these threads.

This is how the old fastpass+ system worked. Maxpass worked the same way genie+ has since launch minus the ability to repeat rides.

I used it this week at WDW. It worked very well and was a big improvement. Where I found it really handy was when we wanted to make sure we got a pass for a particular ride, but preferred a later time. So I grabbed what I could, and then modified it to move it back as needed.

Had a great experience using the new modify update yesterday. Was only planning to stay until about 5 or 6 p.m., and usually this time of year, because of later return times, getting rides booked for once we hopped to DCA would've been challenging unless we opted to book early while still in DL and miss out on using them while still in DL.

Well yesterday first I used the feature to change my Small World to a slightly later time. Great, already helpful. Before hopping to DCA, I booked Goofy's for 1:10 p.m. (not a fan of this ride, but was a requirement yesterday). At that point, Monsters and Incredible had reasonably near return times, but Guardians, Webslingers and TSMM were already at 4 or much later. Soarin' was somewhere in between. Webslingers was a priority for us yesterday, so went ahead and booked a 4:40 time.

Grabbed some food after Goofy's and started trying for a better time. Changed the 4:40 to 4:10. Then to 3:20. Then 2:10. It was 2 at that point, so perfect. After scanning into Webslingers, booked a 7:20 p.m. for Guardians. Waited about 5 minutes to get into the Webslingers preshow and during that time, was able to change it to 2:30. Scanned into Guardians, booked Monsters for 4:30, then changed that to 3:20 before entering the preshow at Guardians.

After scanning at Monsters, booked TSMM for also 7-something. So this was at about 3:30. Ended up grabbing a 4 p.m., which was perfect as we planned to stop for a snack. Then booked Soarin' for 6:55 after scanning at TSMM. This one took the longest compared to the luck I'd had with the others, but we started walking in that direction after TSMM discussing what else we might do. Got a 4:40 time and finished out the day with Soarin'!

Despite how I wrote it, yesterday was an extremely relaxing day for us, by design. But unlike other recent visits where we didn't get Genie+ (we are Key holders), we wanted to emphasize rides, and very specific ones, most being "big" ones. Arriving at 9:45 and leaving at 5:30, with no rushing or shows but good breaks for breakfast, lunch and snacks, this is what we did:

Indiana Jones (Genie+)
Haunted Mansion (Genie+)
Splash Mountain (Genie+)
Small World (Genie+)
Goofy's Sky School (Genie+)
Webslingers (Genie+)
Guardians (Genie+)

Soarin' (Genie+)

We also watched holiday cavalcades at both parks and the Viva Navidad show, all of which we'd seen before but caught accidentally while strolling lol. We actually had time to do more Genie+ attractions, but just weren't really in the mood as we've been often recently.

Now surely I was very lucky and probably being a Tuesday (even in Dec.) helped as well. But just the fact it's at least an option was really fantastic. Before, even if you found a better time, it was nearly impossible to cancel and still find it available to book. Yesterday definitely felt more like the Maxpass days, and for those of us who don't mind trying (I guess I'm the type who enjoys the "game" or "challenge" of it lol), it's nice to have the option!

The new system eliminates that risk and allows us to pick a LL and then refresh until something better comes up, and if it doesn't, we still have the original. I will always miss the re-rideability and unpredictable nature of Maxpass roulette, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Yes, it's definitely an improvements (love that Maxpass roulette haha). Also, one thing I noticed is if you click modify first, rather than just opening the list to refresh, you'll see your selected attraction right at the top. So that's nice as you don't have to scroll down to find it.

I don't remember WDW's former Fastpass working like that (I should mention, I HATED WDW's fastpass system with a passion).

Yeah, WDW never had maxpass. Prior to Genie +, the two systems were vastly different (Fastpass/MaxPass vs Fastpass+)

In the old WDW fastpass system you could preselect 3 return times within the same park and they couldn't overlap, so if you had your 1st return for 10am-11am, your second one had to start at 11am or later. Additionally, after you tapped in at your 3rd you could continue to book additional FPs at any of the parks base don ticket type to your hearts' content you just had to tap in before you could book your next one. So book 4, tap in at 4, book 5, tap in at 5, so on and so forth.

The big thing with the old WDW system though was that you could modify your times/rides to your hearts content, so if I had tapped in at my first 1st fp of the day, I could then go in and modify my 2nd/3rd to be for an earlier time that may have originally overlapped with the ride I just checked in at. With the old system, some days I could book 10-15+ FP+ return times. I think with the new Genie+ system the most I've done in a day at WDW is 8-10 total. Additionally, at WDW you also used to be able to bank multi use passes a lot easier in the old system if a ride went down. I had one day at AK that I banked like 3 or 4 multi use that were good the next day at all 4 parks for everything minus like Frozen and Seven Dwarves from Dinosaur going down 90 minutes to park close and having immediate return times available.


Maxpass worked exactly like Genie+ did at launch with these caveats: the park hopping return time booking restrictions, the lack of re-rides, and you only had to wait 90 minutes instead of 120 minutes between bookings if your return time was more than 2 hours out.
