NEW Disney Visa Vacation Package Deal

Those of you who have either 1. gotten the new deal or 2. remember from last year.

What were the ressie particulars for the packages?

How many days do you have to cancel? What's the down payment?

Thanks everyone!

Harlyquinn:

From last year's package:

$200 deposit due within 2 weeks of the reservation.

Payment must be made in full 45 days before your check in date.

I belive this policy applies to all of Disney package deals.

Melissa

Thanks Melissa that's very helpful and confirms what I thought.

Do you know if there are any fees if you have to change the dates of your reservation but will still keep the same package?

I have a question. If Disney offers you the package at the Disney Visa rate using your name and zip code and then you pay the deposit using your Disney Visa and it's accepted and charged, how can they come back and change the rate on you? What if you've already paid in full? Why isn't this a contract like any other purchase you might make? I have a reservation using the kids stay and play free dream maker package but I have not actually had a trip to Disney World yet, which like everyone else, is the only reason I got this card.
We have cruised on the Magic twice and everything was above board, but I was quoted three different prices for the first package I booked at WDW. I'm really getting sick of the business side of Disney, if it weren't for my granddaughter being so excited I would cancel this trip altogether. I haven't been for 15 years, I could easily go another 15.

Okay I have a question:

I don't have a Disney Visa, but would love to get in on this deal. If my mother applies for the Disney Visa and books the package and puts the deposit on her Visa can the reservation be put in my name? Or does it have to be in her name?

I would apply myself, but I don't think they will give me one. My credit (or lack thereof) isn't the best.

Also, I read previously in the thread that the dates are from May until October 31st. Does anyone know if that's still the correct dates?

Thanks!

I don't think everyone that applies gets the deal. And, I think the person receiving the rate has to be staying in at least one of the rooms.

just a heads up...I got a phone call from a Mom in my son's playgroup asking me to call her and let her know when the AP rates come out. I had no idea they were planning on going but she booked this package w/o the code (I guess someone her husband works with got a card offer and told him about it). Disney called her this morning and told her that after reviewing their records, they are not currently eligible for this deal. They explained it was only for those who received an offer by mail and that it could not be transferred. She was asked if she had a Disney Visa and said no. She asked if she could keep the deal if she applied for one and the CM told her he would let his supervisor know that she didn't but that she would get one if she could get the deal. He didn't know if there was a way to REQUEST the offer or not but he would check on it. They told her what the rack rate was for the package and told her she had a few options:

(1) keep the package at the rack rate and hope that she got an offer and could apply the code at a later date

(2) they offered her a discount on a dream maker package that basically sounds like a AAA rate for the room (which is about enough to cover the taxes so the published rate is your TOTAL once taxes are added) and regular prices on UPH tickets

(3) cancel all together

She asked if they were going to be offering this same deal to the general public again this year. The cm said that they have been told "no, absolutely not" on that all year long; that "no" was the official Disney answer. That park attendance has been at/above pre 9/11 levels for almost a year now so they will not be offering this deal again. He also said that things change all the time so that "official Disney answer" could change at any time.

She said they were very polite and she had no idea all of this was going on online. They had gone on last years package and hoped to take advantage of it again if offered. Now they are just looking for another way to save so they are considering buying one AP if the AP discounts are good enough.

I just thought I'd let you know that it does sound like they are cancelling people who aren't on "the list."

I called Disney yesterday and inquired about the package using the code. The cast member was very nice and explained that only people who applied for the card in December and subsequently received it were eligible.

On the subject of Disney not giving cardholders any offers, I have to disagree with most posters. They never promised specific offers, just offers. My latest statement included an offer for a discounted stay at Vero Beach. While I don't personally wish to stay there, it is an offer for saving on "accomodations."

I also find Disney dollars more useful than airline miles. When figuring the cost of a free ticket on USAirways, I had to include the cost of the card. Disney's is free. IMHO, I come out ahead with the Disney card.

As for Disney Club, let's not forget the the old Magic Kingdom Club was not originally available to the general public. The discounts have been great but I can see Disney getting away from it. Why offer too many discounts if people are willing to pay?

Bottom line. Would I like a bigger discount than AAA on my already booked room? Yes. Will I cancel just because I got a better deal? No. Why spite myself? BTW, for those complaining about the unfairness of it all, i hope that you drive to WDW. Otherwise, don't ask the other people on the plane what they paid for the same flight. You'll only get yourself upset and have to spend even more time sending out e-mails complaining to uncaring corporations.

There's so many diff stories from Bank One and Disney. I guess that's the most frustrating part of this.

I've called Disney and Bank One and have been told in no uncertain terms that I do not qualify even though I applied and got my card in December...that it's only certain card applicants from February.

My husband received a Disney Visa offer in the mail today with nothing about a special deal (we have a trip planned in June). My neighbor received the same packet today with the special offer. She does not have a trip planned. I can see how this may make people mad, but it is a good marketing ploy.

Disneydentist Your post was so good.

I've been reading this board and keeping up with all the griping..
I have to admit.. I am hoping enough people do get mad enough to start vacationing elsewhere.. It will make more room for me and my family HA!

Disney has the right to change or cancel the reservations. Remember the code posted allover the internet for Disney.com ? Orders were being placed that were obviously abuse of the code and many on these boards were sure that Disney would have to honor the purchases. If you received the DisneyVisa code inthe mail, then you are eligible to use it. If you didn't receive it, better luck next time. No one forces you to spend your money at WDW or with the Disney Co. We stay offsite, as Disney has no affordable accomodations for a family of 5. We stay in 2 bdrm units and have our savings to spend on souv. or other attractions.

After reading that this deal Visa is offering is supposed to be a SILVER plan dream maker package, I decided I wanted to crunch numbers for my friend b/c it didn't sound like that would be a good deal. After looking at it, even with a regular dream maker package, it's not as big a deal as it seems at first. I just posted this on the resort board thread but figured I'd copy and paste here so you can see the budget breakdown:

OK, for everyone who is all upset, please consider this. When you take into account that this must be a SILVER dream maker package (at least that's what I am understanding), you can get a MUCH better deal on a 7 day package than this offer. I keep seeing people say that their family won't get to take a Disney vacation if they can't get this offer and I kept thinking "if you can afford to pay for a NONDISCOUNTED 4 night dream maker package, you can probably afford to do 5 nights with a code and discounted tickets. It's in my nature to break things down so when a friend called this morning asking me to let her know about AP rates when they come out b/c Disney called her to let her know she wasn't elligible for this deal after she had already booked it, I had to run the #s for her. Now that people are saying it must be a silver plan...you can do 7 nights FOR LESS than this "3 nights free" deal.

Here is a breakdown for WL and for All Stars in early May for a family w/ 2 adults and 2 kids ages 3-9, all prices assuming standard view rooms:

-WL Visa Silver Dream Maker Package (7 for the price of 4 deal; I got the price by pricing out a 4 night silver dream maker package on Disney's web site): $2885.40
-WL w/ 7 nights @ rack rates and 7 day PHP tickets bought at the cheapest price I could find: $2608.29
-WL w/ 7 nights @ AP rates (based on last year's May rates) and 1 adult AP, 1 adult & 2 kids 7 day PHP tickets: $2123.27

-All Stars Visa Silver Dream Maker Package: $2263.40 (notice you can spend the same amount of time at the WL for LESS if one of you buys an AP and AP rates come out? not such a good deal anymore, huh?)
-All Stars 7 nights rack rates, 7 day PHP: $1831.29
-All Stars 7 nights AP rates, 1 AP and 7 day PHP: $1614.79

Even if for some reason you were able to book a regular dream maker package, you could still do a 7 night vacation with 1 AP and AP rates for not a lot more!
All Stars Visa Dream Maker (NO SILVER PLAN): $1439.40
All Stars 7 nights AP rates, 1 AP and 7 day PHP: $1614.79

WL Visa Dream maker (NO SILVE PLAN): $2061.40
WL 7 nights AP rates, 1 AP and 7 day PHP: $2123.27

I guess, IMHO, if it has to be a SILVER plan, it's not a good deal at all. Even w/ a regular dream maker package, it's not as huge as some people feel it is.

It's not the silver dreamaker package...it is the regular dreammaker package ...you just get 7 nights for the price of 4 and $100 Disney Dollars at check in

Perhaps different people are getting different offers?

Mine is not for the silver package.
Mine says:

Get a 7 night DREAM MAKER package for the price of 4.
It includes only Hotel plus Admission to the parks.

That's it. It says if you want to add silver etc. then it's extra.

My 20 year old unemployed full time college student just got this offer in the mail today. It was not for the silver plan, just the dream maker 7 days for 4 plan.

I also plan on cancelling my card. Not because of not getting this deal, but just in general. There have been no "perks" to this card. 1% back in reward dollars aint that great. I get more in cash back with my Discover and my Amex. Disney and or Bankone is going to have to up the ante if they want people to keep the card. There are too many credit card options out there that give you better "perks".

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing as you about the crowds but then completely forgot to include it in my post. It's not really nice but it is funny. HA!
