New Disney Visa... does this work?

I received a $200 gift card referral if spending $500 in first 3 months for the Disney Visa. We are thinking of booking a trip soon for November. If I book this Disney trip with the Visa card and pay $500 with it does this count or does it have to be specific purchases? If I then pay that off immediately I wouldn't pay any interest correct? How long does it take to receive the gift card? Is there a penalty to cancel the card? We wouldn't be visiting Disney for another several years so don't want the temptation of using it and not paying it off. Thanks for the help! Any advice on how to take advantage is welcome!

It can be any purchase of $500, so yes, you could pay your trip with it. I am not sure on the gift card, generally I have gotten those pretty quickly. There is no penalty to cancel the card. I would keep it until at least after your trip. You can use it to get some discounts on some food and merchandise while you are are there.

Yes. I did exactly the same thing. I made a $500 payment on my trip with it, got the gift card and used that to make a $200 payment on my trip.

Just a note though it dings your credit in a negative to open and then close quickly credit cards. It actually helps your credit score to have available credit cards open- you just can't use up all the credit. But it does look good to use it and then pay it off.

Good advice thank you!

It can be any type of spending. Just make sure it really is a gift card. I had a similar deal with a $100 offer, and it turned out to just be a statement credit the next month.

I completely agree with this. We actually rack up the rewards dollars quickly ( have the premier since we purchase Disney stuff often/annual passholders) with monthly bills we already pay like gym membership , car insurance , internet , etc. Basically any recurring charges we would already would pay each month we figure why not earn something for it. Chase has been awesome to us and we love our card.

Does anyone know where I can get the Disney Visa application that has the $200 gift card offer?
I just got mine in the mail. It was not long after I had looked up information about it so maybe this has something to do with it or purely coincidental. My offer expires in May.

Wow I want that one !
Look at the bottom of the Disneyworld .com website. There's an offer for a $200 statement credit when you open a new account and spend $500 within the first 3 months. No need to get a referral. You can apply through the link on Disney's website.

That one does have the annual fee,so if they are looking for the $200 and no annual fee, I think those were referral only.

We received the same offer, put $500 on our card, paid it off 2 days later and got our $200 Disney gift card 6 weeks later. Good Luck!
