I just got the new Walt Disney World video for next year and I love it. It gets me so excited and ready to go. I can't wait to get there. I just have 1 question. How much is the Pal Mickey and is it really worth it? I have 3 daughters and dd 12 yrs would not be interested but dd 8 yrs would probably enjoy it.

I know this was asked before but I did not know or understand what Pal Mickey was at the time.

Thanks :)

He's cute, we enjoyed what little we had of him..but we bought him..used him for our last hour in the park (I held him..I was afraid a grand would put him down and forget him), brought him back to the room, and we forgot him the next day. He then road home to NY with us, and will be going up on eBay after our next trip in two weeks, when I put more stuff up (he's not been invited, since the grands aren't going).
One Pal Mickey and three grandchildren was not one of my best ideas.

DD who was 7 and my niece who was 5 loved Pal Mickey (so did I!) We rented him and then traded him in for our last day, we just had to have him! Rent one to see if you like it! $8.00 a day.

Thanks for the response. Do you have to rent it first or can you just buy it your first day???

You can just buy one outright.

My mom bought the grandkids a Pal Mickey at the Beach Club gift shop as we were leaving to go home, so we didn't get to use him in the parks YET!!! But on the very long drive home he entertained us all with jokes and theme park trivia. I believe he plays four different games, where you answer by squeezing his feet or hands or tummy. Kids still play with him four months later, and I am sure they will be taking him park hopping on our surprise spring break trip.
He has a clip thing so you can attach him to a lanyard or belt loop.

We didn't get one when we were there last June but he is really cute. If I remember correctly they were around $50. There are microchips (or something along that line) located throughout the park and when Mickey detects one he tells you things. From what I understand he also gives tips about how long some lines are too. When not in the park he plays games and trivia questions I think. I wanted one but hubby said no. He knew I would quickly grow bored with carrying it(I hate carrying things) and worrying something would happen to Mickey. Uor son just said "Oh that's neat I guess" so he really wasn't interested in it. (He was almost 9)
We are planning another trip so maybe I'll get one next time around or from ebay:)

I thought I read somewhere (don't quot me on this) that you could rent it for the day and if you like it they will apply the rental fee towards the purchase price.

Anybody know if this is true?

and she loved it because it was Mickey (she would have loved it even if it didn't talk). She still has it in her playpen till our next trip. I think DH got more of a kick out of it though! Every time Mickey had something to say in the parks, we would stop and listen, twice! It's cute, but it's also 60. If you can afford it, its a cute souvie, but not a huge loss if you have no kids or don't get it.

When Pal Mickey first came out I heard rumors here about other possible characters to be released - like Pooh, Minnie, etc. - has anyone heard more about this? I'd love a Tigger!

I have several quesitons, I hope someone can answer. If I understand this correctly, Pal Mickey still talks once he leaves the park??? If he is bought off Ebay, will he work when he gets back to the parks again? Does he take batteries? Also, how big is Pal Mickey? Thanks for your help!

My understanding is that you basically pay for him when you rent him (the full $60) and get the rest back when you return him. If you decide to keep him, you don't have to go back and pay for him, you just take him with you. (someone correct me if I am wrong!)

The $8.00 rental fee is applied to the purchase price, not sure how they do it. Since we traded our rental Mickey in for a new one before we left. The rentals batteries had to be changed 2 times and they were free both times. If you want to buy, I would suggest renting one and trading him in on a fresh model the day before you leave...then if the batteries go out, you get free replacements (and a clean Mickey!) Our new ones batteries are still going strong!

it sounds like Pal mickey is popular enough so that you could use him, and then you could sell him used on e-bay and make out pretty good.

Is there someplace BESIDES Disney and DTD and ebay to get him?
