New Disney Show TLC channel Friday 20/1

Hi all.

We have Austar where we are and my subscription didn't include TLC........until now!;)

I haven't seen the DVD's but now I know you can buy them I certainly will check it out! ( thanks for the tip aussietravellers! )
I have a double DVD set here that I purchased last time we were at Disneyland called Imaginering the Magic that is just wonderful. I will be glad to have something new to watch. I have even gone as far as watching the Disney planning DVD quite a few times!!!:rotfl:

So who just watched the Fan's Guide to WDW?

It was an old show, wonder what year that was filmed? :confused3 Anyway, I still enjoyed it, made me reminisce about past trips and dream about future trips :cloud9:

Edit: Just googled it and it first aired in 2004. That's why there is Pleasure Island and no Toy Story Mania, ADR's were still called Priority Seating, it was possible to get a PS at the last minute (not much chance now) and you could book HDDR 2 years in advance.

It's on again at 2.30 today. I'm going to see if I can catch it then. If its from 2004, I wonder if I've seen it before?

I was wondering about the priority seating they also said you could make them 90 days in advance and i was thinking what happened to 180 :rotfl: now i understand. I cant wait till the ones on the 20th to air we haven't seen them but i will have to wait till the 25th when we get home from Melbourne.

thanks for the amazon link.

i pulled out my disney parks dvd today to watch it for the nostalgia... the first time i watched it, it made me feel like i needed to be part of the magic. the second time i viewed it (today) i noticed a lot of repeated footage and really outdated scenes. i also noticed it contained very little info and was mostly lots of (the same) pretty pictures interspersed with perky people saying things like 'dreams come true' and 'magical memories'.

i'm certainly not dissing disney... disney is great, and so are the parks. but the video i saw today seemed tired and worn and a little rough around the edges which was a little sad. makes me want to do my own disney video :)

I found the fans guide to disney very old...even the dining bookings are no longer done like that. We all do online or over the phone now! Must have been quite a while ago, although AKL was in it? Still good to see disney though....

That's why I'm so glad I never bought it.
It can be stamped as 2010 but it is VERY VERY old footage.
The Yeti no longer behaves that way (and hasn't for YEARS) due to mechanism strain and they can't afford to fix him.

I've been travelling to WDW for 20 years and this is a pretty bad 'doco'
Even the Balloons are old :confused3 ....
REALLY old...

That's from 2004 I think someone said..

They are all way too perky. Especially the ones "strolling" onto their AKL balcony all dressed and made up...
Yeah...

right...

There is an older 'behind the scenes' type series which truly is dated now but it talks with Joe Rhode and others in a more informative way. About the DESIGN of rides. About designing Animal Kingdom (which is now over 10 years old)
Sure again it's outdated. But it is actual information...not ramble...
Only seen it on Travel Channel though. Never a DVD of it...

Oh I'm glad you have the DVD set :goodvibes I saw you that you were going to miss the shows on TLC, so just wanted to let you know that you don't have to miss them after all :thumbsup2

Yes agree about the dated stuff and they do repeat things WAY too much! I found that a touch annoying actually but in saying that, I do love seeing the dvd's and remembering past trips and how some of the rides are created and how the Animal Kingdom park was built and created. My son loves watching too, actually it's on again now and my son heard it and has come down to watch it. (got to love cable, that repeats shows about a hundred times in a week :rotfl:)

Yes as Queenie said, it's from 2004. It is old isn't it! Many things on it are very outdated. You can still go to Guest Services at the park like that though and make an ADR, like you can at your hotel concierge, but thanks to free dining, it is almost impossible to get a last minute ADR at any restaurant :rolleyes1

Not impressed with it...

It may be stamped 2010 but the amount of old file footage is ridiculous

There is a lot of outdated footage. It's amazing how quickly it dates though, shows how much the Disney parks change. What really drove me crazy with the DVD's is you put on another DVD and half the info from the previous DVD is on that one too :headache: But still, I do like watching them from time to time. I also like seeing how things were built, how they were created. You will see as the series progresses (there is a lot of repeat info), but the Animal Kingdom episode goes into a lot of detail on how the park was created and built and it's really interesting (well I enjoyed it anyway). The Disney Cruise episode will go into detail about how the ships are built and put together which was interesting too. That Fan Guide, that was really outdated and those perky people, who is perky and OTT like that :rotfl:

Hi Aussietravellers, have you any holiday plans for the near future....would be great to see you again at Animal Kingdom!!! That was so funny that morning I found this poor lady before I finally found you and said introduced myself she let me talk for sometime until I realised she wasn't you.......

First time I went to the Magic Kingdom...it had its own carpark...

And no lake :rolleyes1

:lmao:

Hi Kyl, yes it would be lovely to catch up again. An Aussie dismeet would be fun too. No disney holidays plans for me at the moment. We have been travelling locally (to Hamilton Island mainly) this last year. But I am not usually a long term holiday planner. My last Disney trip was the first one I have actually planned in advance, the previous two I planned in about a week, so you never know, a trip could suddenly spring up :rotfl: (fingers crossed).

How exciting that you have another trip planned, looking forward to hearing all about it and following your plans :goodvibes

O.k so I watch another disney parks show on TLC late last night. It was different, it was hosted by Samantha (I think bowman?). It was about christmas at the world. I found it quite good....it was much better than the show they had on about tips by disney fans, this one was much better and looked like it had been filmed within the last couple of years.

Thanks Aussietravellers.:thumbsup2 How good would it be to do a Dismet in WDW:lovestruc
