Ok, Here is a new start. I hope that you guys can work with this and starting looking at what you can do vs. what you can't do. This thread will be monitored and we need to put a work around. Disney does read this board, and it is really easy for them to figure out who you are. Remember this when you post. Also, any cussing, etc will NOT be tolerated.

After getting off of the phone with my WP, here is the new policy.

If you signed your contract PRIOR to 10/1/2008, you are under the old rules. If you sign your contract on or after 10/1/2008 you are under the new rules. The rules are if you go through a ticket taker machine you are in the park. So for my wedding, I had my ceremony at the UK Pavillion and then my reception at CG and then Illuminations. I would be charged if I had signed my contract after 10/1/2008 for the ceremony and for Illuminations to use DPS. I could use Randy for my reception.

What other ideas can I do to make my event special?

Desert Party locations:

Summerhouse for wishes
GF Marina

Other ideas:
Custom Fireworks on the beach near the Wedding Pavillion
Thank you Dinner at the Summerhouse

Ceremony locations:
Don't overlook SBP, or the Yacht Club Gazebo.

I am really looking to hear what you guys have in your mind that you can share with others. At this point, I don't think we have many 2010, or 2011 brides. If you guys are out there, at all costs sign your contract prior to 10/1/2009. I would also FEDEX my contract so that I get a signed receipt. Remember your contract is not executed until they receive your contract.

Thanks!

Jonette

Is it 08 or 09 for booking?

Disney told me it must be booked by 1st October 08 but here it says 09??

Thanks JonetteA for starting this new thread. I am an April 2010 bride and was already in contact via email with Randy b/c i really liked his work. If I could sign my contract tomorrow for April 2010 i would. I was originally going to use Disney Photography b/c well they are Disney. When i started reading these threads i realized i didn't HAVE to use Disney photography and i really liked Randy's work. so am i upset with the new policy? No! do i completely understand why they are doing this? Yes! am i disappointed i can't use Randy? yes! but After all, any pictures are better than no pictures!! :) Thanks again!!

it is based on the date that you sign the contract. Disney just found out about this last week and they got clarification this week. again, let's look at what we can do.

I'm sorry Jonnete. I think the confusion is because Carrie said she called DFTW yesterday or the day before and they said that if you sign your contract AFTER October 1, 2008, you will fall under the new policy. If you sign PRIOR to October 1,2008 then you won't be affected.

Can you confirm whether it is 2008 or 2009?

Sorry guys. I misheard. Chalk it up to swimmers ear without the swimming. I totally misunderstood it is 10/1/2008. My bad. I really do apologize.

I did get clarification on my change from DFTW.

Ok, for those of you that have not signed yet. What can I do to still use Randy and Misty/ whomever else. I have another idea....this is pretty crazy, but maybe have them do a shoot in a resort with your wedding gear on if you have a ceremony at the park.

What other ideas do you have for future brides. I really think if we all work together on this we can really come up with some wonderfully creative ideas.

Can I throw out that instead of Illuminations in the park renting the Grand 1 for Wishes? Since Illuminations is mostly your pics in front of fireworks? It would be on a really cool Yacht. You can use Randy and Misty there.

You could also do a nighttime reception on the beach at the Poly or Grand? That way you can get some beautiful sunset pictures with the water. Everyone comes in Aloha garb and it is a reason to have another dress!!!

Just another idea. Remember that the "beauty light" that we all talk about in the biz is about an hour or so before sunset. Imagine the gorgeous pics!

If you're just joining the party, here's a summary of the change we're all referring to:

Non-Disney photographers and videographers will no longer be allowed at any in-park event (ceremony, reception, dessert party, etc.).

They will still be allowed at all other venues.

The change applies to anyone who signs a contract after Sept. 30, 2008. If you sign a contract before then, you can still have an outside vendor in the parks for photo/video.

:thumbsup2

Those are really great ideas!! I will try to think of some too.

All I can say now, is that while I do understand the allure of a park Ceremony, I LOVED my Sea Breeze Point Ceremony. The venue was gorgeous. And I woke up at 9 AM and leisurely began getting ready around 11 AM. So there are benefits to having a non park ceremony.

And you're right Jonette, you don't have to be right under the fireworks to get great shots. There are many many options.

Question though... Will Randy or Misty really be allowed on the Grand 1? Isn't that technically still inside the Park?

These are all great ideas and i would love to hear more but also, if there are people out there who HAVE used Disney (for ceremony/reception, and/or in-park shoots) would you mind posting links to your pix? I would love to see some! Also, maybe if we could start posting POSITIVES about staying with the inside vendor that might be nice to see/hear!

Hi Jonette

I am really glad you started this new thread, its not the WP fault that this has happened but they have the unfortunate job of informing people of this. Our wedding planner was really nice when we spoke to her and really helpful.

We are planning our wedding for Sept 2009 so just fall outside of the new policy (I am sure you have seen posts from my partner Epcot1982UK), but I am sure there are lots of options that can be found that will be just as special.

I can't wait to hear some of the ideas as either with or without the new policy I am sure there will be some great suggestions for everyone to use.

David

I would like to know if they would let a guest (or guests) of your wedding take pictures for the in-park portion? Then, you could have an outside vendor for the longer non-park portions of your plans. The actual ceremony doesn't last that long, but I still want pictures! ;)

Hi david, nice to e-meet you!! We are planning our weddings around the same time!! cant wait to see how everything pans out!!

Just Popped in - I haven't been on in so long!

Does this policy apply to contract & date???

Meaning if my wedding is 9/1/2009 and I sign my contract 9/08, does that mean I am allowed to use an outside vendor or not?
