Ok... is it just me, or does Disney seem to be running out of ideas 4 good movies. I have a list of 4 already made, in the process of being made, or ideas of sequels:

Peter Pan II
Cinderella II
Tarzan II
Dumbo II

IMHO, besides the fact that they get boring after a while, its not as authentic as the original w/ a bunch of different voices. Whaddah u guys think?

omg! i agree!

dont forget...
Hunchback II
101 Dalmatians II

no joke!
they have all the previews on the new peter pan dvd

omg I know!! It's such a joke- I mean "101 Dalmations II"?? Didn't we already have a "102 Dalmations"? And just in general, Disney hasn't come up with any worthwhile summer movies- you can't even compare "Atlantis" with "The Little Mermaid" or "Beauty and the Beast"! Where are all the writers who did those? The ones from a decade ago are great, but the ones now- not so great

Alright- vent over :)

Atlantis 2
Lion King 3
Rescures 3
Bugs Life 2
Toy Story 3

BUT
Toy Story 2
BATB: EC
LM 2
LATT 2
were good

I would have to say I disagree with what you guys are saying. I mean maybe disney is making sequels lately because some people might be curious about what happened to these characters. Oh and by the way I also just saw Atlantis and I enjoyed it now I know that it could never compete with like Beauty and the Beast but you should cut it some slack I mean Beauty and the Beast was probably the best disney movie made of all time!!!

I'm really upset about disney making sequels to such classics....
sequels most of the time ruin the first movie...just let the stories be..

Yeah, and what about the movies that Disney is creating based on some of their theme park attractions like Country Bear Jamboree, Pirates of the Carribbean, and the Haunted Mansion?

Disney makes these sequels because they make the company a hell of a lot of money.

I don't like the way they try and elaborate on 'happily ever after', and turn the characters into badly drawn, overprotective parents. Of all the sequels, the only ones I own and like are Beauty and the Beast and the Enchanted Christmas, and Toy Story II. I think the reason these, and Peter Pan II work is because there's more story to be told, unlike Little Mermaid II, which, in my opinion was the worst film ever.

With Disney's feature films, I think they're taking a new direction, films like Atlantis and Emperor's New Groove aren't like past Disney films, and if you go to the cinema expecting another Beauty and the Beast, you're going to be dissapointed. People always say they want Disney to do more animated films like BatB and Aladdin, but of Disney's 42 (?) animated films, only 6 of them have been based on fairy tales. These films are a very small part of Disney's repertoire, but people keep expecting them to only do fairy tale films.

I don't really have an opinion on the films based on the rides yet, but I've heard they'll be pretty good. I'm looking forward to the Pirates and Haunted Mansion films, though......

Wow, I wrote a lot :D

Here's hoping that they'll make Rapunzel soonish,

Kiki, i ment that those movies are in production!

I agree, the sequels are almost always really bad. I haven't even seen half of them because I don't want to waste my time, and I liked the way the original stories ended. I think that they're mainly being sold to little kids who want to see the characters again or something... cause when I was little my brother and I LOVED both Aladdin sequels, but Aladdin was one of our favorite movies.

Does anyone else notice that the best/most popular sequels are released in theatres, not just video/DVD? Toy Story 2, 102 Dalmatians, and Return to Neverland are all more popular, and Toy Story 2 is a better movie than any of the other sequels. Do you think Disney has a reason for only releasing certain ones in theatres?

I think Disney only releases the seuqles in theatres if they turn out better than expected. I know that Toy Story and Peter Pan II were both going to be direct to video, but they turned out so well that Disney decided to release them in theatres.

Ok....everybody knows that sequels are never as good as the first ones, but that doesn't mean that they're bad. Just maybe not as good.

The only sequel I saw which I thought was worth watching was Toy Story II. The worst I have seen is probably The Little Mermaid II.:( Sometimes I think the sequels ruin the original films which is a shame.:( This is just my opinion though.:)

I don't think that all the sequels are bad, and everyone has their own opinions on them (Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Beauty and the Beast II :)).

That said, I'd rather die than have to watch the Little Mermaid II again  I watched the Little Mermaid for the millionth time on the weekend, and I can't say it ruined the film, but throughout the film, I kept thinking, 'she's going to grow up, and have Melody, and start this whole ocean feud thing next.' I think a little bit of the magic was gone. :(

Am I the only who eagerly anticipates the sequels, hoping the next one will break the mold, and then end up very, very dissapointed? I couldn't wait for Cinderella II, I didn't think it was possible for Disney to spoil such a classic film. They sure proved me wrong......

I'm sure Atlantis II's going to be good though......

Not to sound like a drag in all this but if you think about it on Disney's side it probably is hard to come up with a GOOD story line that people will like so they take an old one and create a new one.

I mean I totally get were your coming from and I agree. These movie stink (90% of them). I personally didn't like Peter Pan at all. So I guess we kinda just need to be patient and see what they can work up!

I got an idea ok go check out my new thread! It's called Movie Magic!

you are totally right! Cinderella II was a DISAPOINTMENT!!!!!! They should just make a whole new disney Movie, don't ya'll think?¿
