We live in SW Missouri, not too far from Branson. The rumor has been circulating for years that Disney would look at Branson as a new Disney Park site if Branson got an international airport which they acheived this year.

I am by no means perpetuating the rumor, but am curious what other rumors people have heard for their areas.

I cannot even fathom Disney considering any new ideas in this economy. I mean they haven't even finished pop century yet.

I just like to hear what other rumors people catch through the grapevine.

I have read numerous stories like this throughout the years and I am not even that old. LOL Every state seems to have one.

A few months ago I read one that was on here and in a local paper. It was somewhere up in New England. It was established in that thread that it was just the land Disney purchased but was going to be used for the Disney Vacation Club. That makes total sense as DVC looks to expand outside of orlando. Then again I think it was still established it was just a rumour. It would also make sense in an area like Branson that has a tourist draw, it would be great place for timeshare.

As far as a park goes, the rumour is that is highly unlikely, unless we are talking about another country. If you want more insight check out the rumors board, it is very entertaining.

There was talk at one time that Disney was planning on putting a small park in South Louisiana - in the New Orleans area. I believe Disney is probably looking at property all over the country...possibly the world...at any given time. And the rumours get started because somebody knows someone who's friends uncle's neighbor works at a restaurant where a man came in wearing a suite with a mickey pin on it...or he thinks that's what it looked like anyway! :rotfl:

There have been rumors about Disney building a park in Texas for YEARS! I don't believe any of them. Even with DVC, the ones in Vero and Hilton Head took YEARS to sell. They are building one in Hawaii, but anyplace else I can't imagine them taking that risk.

Now Disney has purchased land in Washington DC area and is planning on building a hotel with some DVC rooms. No park, just a hotel. Same thing in Hawaii. That's two resorts in a row not attached to a park. Of course, the Hawaii resort is another beach hotel and there are already two other DVC beach resorts, Vero Beach and Hilton Head. Maybe Disney is diversifying?

Since WDW has had a 30% drop at the turnstiles this year, I would doubt another United States park is in the forecast.

I don't remember all the details, but multiple years ago (20?) Disney was looking into putting a small "historically based" park in Haymarket, VA (hour or so outside of Washington, DC). The residents raised cane and Disney walked away.

I hadn't heard anything about a hotel, but a hotel wouldn't raise a furor, unless Disney was planning on putting in on one of the civil war battlegrounds.

That sounds like the one in Washngton DC, Disney has purchased the land at National Harbor for a hotel with some DVC rooms as a poster mentioned. DH and I are kind of excited about it as it means a weekend away with no kids for us.
