Hi DISboard readers!
I love Disney, so this board feels like a new home already. Wow, where to begin?
I've grown up with Disney cartoons, movies and collectibles, and I remember watching a VHS of The Little Mermaid in awe on our family's television... Soon after, I received my first Little Mermaid barbie-type Tyco doll for the store when I was just a tween.
It started with a Mouse, but my passion kicked off with a rebellious singing mermaid and her handsome sailor prince. (Not to mention that Disney includes my all-time favorite movie, Singin' in the Rain, in their MGM repertoire!)
I've been to the parks almost every year even though we traveled there from Illinois. I have been fortunate to have traveled to many beautiful cities around the world (Paris, Venice, London, Madrid, Rome, etc.) in my adult life, but none of it has changed my passion for visiting Walt Disney World!
I am a former VMK player (Virtual Magic Kingdom, RIP). This is the first Disney-related board I've joined since my devoted participation with that game ended several months ago. My heart still feels heavy about the loss of my sweet VMK character every once in awhile.
I collect a lot of Disney memorabilia, and I have one of the largest Disney doll collections in the Midwest. I love collecting the rarer Disney dolls that were only sold for a limited time for movies in the early-to-mid 90's. When I have more space, I would love to collect more of the Disney Big Figures (I currently have four on display), as well as the delicate figures in the Walt Disney Classics collection.
My next trip to Disney World is this October 2008, and we purchased our tour to include a day (10/28) for the Backstage Magic Tour! This is the 7-hour backstage with motorcoach tour of CM secrets and in-depth trivia behind the three Disney parks: Magic Kingdom, DHS and Epcot. After having done plenty of book reports and college papers about Disney (after reading THICK biographies, etc. even as a child), I am SO ready for this Backstage Tour!
I love Disney, and some say I was born to work at Disney. As an adult, now I am happy to visit the parks and dress up for the MNSSHP each year. At least I can see what it could have been like.

Glad to join you at DISboards!
