New Dis Traders

im guilty of autos but i also dont think ppeople should agree to a trade and then not reply for 2 months you should check DIS often if you have agreed to a trade

If you are agreeing to a trade, 24 - 48 hours would seem to be proper etiquitte for response.

However, life does happen and things we cannot control do come into play. Maybe the way to look at this is to see if the person is still posting on other thread and if you see they are not, then perhaps something more important is keeping them away from here and VMK. Maybe then you just move on and trade with somebody else. ;)

More than anything, it is the rudeness that I dislike. It is mostly on the trades but also general posting. Maybe if the mods could request (*cough make cough*) ppl use better manners all the way around it would improve the trading experience (and posting).

Sure, there are some rude posters, but I think a lot is lost because there is no tone or inflection. Some people here are from other countries where English is not their first language, so they can come across as rude, at times. Some people don't take the time to write a long enough post, so that there are no misunderstandings, and there are always some who misinterpret things. I really don't think there are many rude people here on the Dis. Most here are very helpful and usually friendly, even when we disagree. :)

One of my biggest pet peeves is when an individual makes offers on more than one trade thread, and even though I have accepted the offer the individual will not follow through until they have heard whether their other offers, which I assume are less than what has been offered to me, is accepted or not.

To clarify I have no problem with someone making offers on more than one trade thread for the same item, I just think that if they offer on 5 different trade threads they should be prepared to complete all offers that are accepted.

Yes, I've seen scenarios like this. Let's just say John Doe starts a trade thread, "Trading Item A". John then posts in someone else's offer, "I'll offer this list (which includes Item A)."

Next thing you know, people who put offers into John Doe's thread are kept waiting for a response. Someone will eventually ask, "Which offer here is leading?" And then the response I just love: "Sorry, I don't have Item A anymore. I already traded it."

This is just completely unacceptable. If John Doe had two of "Item A" to either trade or offer as part of a trade, then that's different. But in the example above, John Doe was playing both ends. If John Doe simply didn't like the offers, the best thing would be to say, "I'm sorry, but none of the offers appeal to me. Mods please close the trade thread."

Otherwise, all the John Does out there waste everyone's time.

I have to say I agree here, I was going to post about this but didn't know if it was just me.

I have been trying to trade for a few things, and have even managed to find someone agreeable to a trade, only to never hear from them again.

I tell them upfront that I am on in the evenings, after 8:30 central, and could you please let me know when we could meet.

There was one time that I didn't make it, I was sick. There have been several people that stood me up and didn't even bother to PM.

I try to do all my trading in game now.
