We've been here for 2 weeks at 2 different resorts and the new tv service is very bad. Most channels lose signal and have that digital snow when the picture and audio freezes. I call once and someone came to take a look. They told us that the new Direct TV has been having alot trouble keeping signals especially with bad weather is around.

This is a bad service since during bad weather alot of us go back to out rooms to relax and now we can watch good tv to pass the time.

I think Disney needs to rethink this new service.

Not sure what Disney can do about the bad weather. We have Direct TV at home and when we get bad weather, we get the same thing you are describing. Nothing much to do about it. Can't change the weather and can't change the satellite positioning each time it gets stormy.

I can't imaginei WHY they would choose direct tv with all the rain and storms in Florida. We have here in New York and if someone SNEEZES outside the service is interupted!

We didnt notice an issue last month at Beach Club (but we rarely watch the TV, so we might just have missed it). I do miss the cartoons in the room though. I used to stay up all night watching them!

I live in New England and the first year we had HD service from DirecTV we lost signal all the time during storms (especially snow!).

Turns out our dish wasn't aligned properly the first time. After they came and fixed alignment, has been rock solid, even during bad weather.

Maybe they need a service call! :D

1) Easy.
2) The bid was cheaper from Direct TV than cable tv.
3) At Disney, "money talks".
4) In some cases, guests experience is secondary.

Please tell me this isn't so .I had direct tv and hated it .always locks up in bad weather .I would hate to get back to our resort and not have on the Disney info channel.

I would agree. I have DirecTV at home and they don't even carry the new Disney Jr. channel in my area, so why would Disney partner with someone who won't carry their channel?

Have they finished all the resorts yet? I was at WL from 5/1 to 5/11 and it was the same old stuff as always.

Also, if they are going with satellite, they will have weather issues regardless of the company. We have had four different satellite providers over the last 20 years, and they all have/had issues when there is a rainstorm. Still, when we had hurricanes it was the neighborhoods with cable that were out for well over a month and our satellite came back when the sun did :).

I'm pretty sure it's at AKL. This is the first I've heard of it, so I didn't know the service had changed. But we were there the first week of May and I remember my husband and I both commenting that the tv picture was fuzzy and that we lost service a few times which had never happened before. It wasn't a big deal to us as we typically only have the tv on for a few minutes before bed, but we did notice something was up.

We are in BLT right now and have direct tv. I haven't noticed any reception issues but mostly watch in the evenings. I LOVE having channel options. I was do sick if watching Disney commercials, espn and other random shows.
