New direct purchase and banking points

Hello

I have my Direct contract which I purchased today 155 points with August use year.

However, its my first contact as my resale ones are going through.

I tried to bank them and the deadline has passed (obviously).

The agent on live chat said they couldn't be banked as its gone beyond the deadline.

I thought when you purchased direct you could bank late?

I don't actually know. I'd like to think yes? I know when I spoke to my Guide today about buying CCV direct, he said that I'd get the 2019 points and they'd be "automatically banked into 2020 for me." I presumed that to mean he'd do it for me, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet, as I want to think on it a day or two since that's still a lot of money to be spending at a very uncertain time. Maybe someone who has already been in this situation knows?

Just call member services. Although....today may not be a great day...

Member services should be able to do it and you could ask about a welcome home reservation if you're planning anything!

Just added at CCV yesterday and got 2019 points. Guide initially said that they would automatically be banked. When we closed the deal that changed to "call as soon as they show up and bank them before the end of July" I did it through chat pretty quickly. then I used all of the banked 2019 points to replace 2020 points on a reservation for May-June 2021 in the same chat. Super simple.

No. Dues are based on calendar year not use year. When you buy direct, you only pay dues on the remaining time in the calendar year.

Yes! It’s one of the “advantages” of buying direct, especially mid-year with a later UY - you essentially get loaded points (current UY which is 2019 + upcoming 2020 UY) and pay prorated 2020 dues.

No, I didn’t pay dues on 2019 points.

Yes, however the amount is not calculated for you when you purchase. I was told we would receive a prorated dues statement in 60 days or so for the time left for the year based on the date purchased.
