New Dining Reservation System??

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere I couldn't find it! But I'm looking for info on the new dining system.. will guests really be able to book ADR's on line? If so, what will the website be? When does it start?? Any information anyone can provide would be appreciated!!

They are currently upgrading the ADR system.

Once the upgrade is complete, it has been said that it will be possible to make ADR's online.

The upgrade will be complete on or about November 21, 2008. At that time they will open ADR's for phones only. Those arriving from February 23 - May 20 will be able to make reservations on the phone on that day.

They have said that after the upgrade to the system that they'll launch online ADR's at a later date.

I haven't heard any specific date yet, just "later". I would guess it'll be a month or two, once the new phone system is tried and the kinks are worked out with that.

I have a tripped planned 4-24 to 5-2 so it sounds like I will likely have to make my ADR's by phone on Nov 21st or after? (even though 180 days would be Oct 24th) I am a HUGE planner and just want to book my ADR's as soon as I can.

I hear you. I'm dying waiting to make our ADR's. Our window opens on 10/18.
I thought the date was 10/21? Did they move it back to Nov?

Yeah That is what I though too.. at least that is what I read on other sites... it's so confusing! I might just go ahead and call 180 days prior and see what happens... the worst they can say is "no we can't book until XX date..."

On or about 11/21/08 expect the system to come to a grinding halt. Based on thier past history it won't be pretty!

I've been thinking the same thing. I have memories of calling the day the Free Dining code came out. After all that work on updating the system to have it crash when everyone calls to get those ADR's we've been waiting to make for months.

The thought of the "system" crashing.. is a little scary! Hopefully that won't happen!!

Originally the date was October 24th. At that time you could make reservations up through the end of January.

Early on in the process, they fell behind and felt that they wouldn't be ready until the end of November. At that time they opened the window through February 22.

I fear that Carol could be right, there is a very real and high risk that the system won't work as planned. What's really scary about that is that November 21 is likely to be the busiest day in Disney ADR history.

I forgot to mention earlier - Chef Mickey, CRT and Victoria & Albert's are available at the 180 day mark throughout this process. The +10 still applies for those three restaurant for eligible guests.

I've gotten behind on my DIS-ing, and this is the first I've heard for the ressie fiasco! DH and I are planning a trip for April 09 for his mid-tour leave. I hate having to wait! So not cool!


Guess it gives me a few extra months to change my mind over and over again...lol!

I bet those restaurants will fill up early too, everyone will want to book at least something!!

I wonder if you can start calling to make ADR's at midnight on 11/21... I sound like a stalker!!

I hate to say "I told you so" but I predicted all this months ago when the upgrade was first announced with the October 21st date. Computer upgrades NEVER go as planned. Not at Disney and not anywhere else. There should be specific steps followed in a logical order and, unfortunately, the steps at the end of the process are the ones that will get skipped if a deadline needs to be made. And those steps are the final testing and quality assurance that the product to going to be running as expected. Which causes the system to "crash". I live with a man who is that last person on the line and it's not pretty when he doesn't get the time he needs to make sure the product is ready to go. In a perfect world, the problems he finds in the last step should be fixed before the product gets online. But that doesn't happen in about 99.9% of the time. Because of the deadline date.

Trust me, take a deadline date being moved back several times over having the system not be ready to go.

I think we all like to live in the "magical" world of Disney, where nothing ever goes wrong... obviously that is not always the case, I guess we can just hope for the best! :- )

honestly, they should phase it in instead of unleashing the whole thing. Whenever it comes online, they should allow people needing to make ressies in Feb and early March, then mid March, etc etc. That was the system isn't overwhelmed.

This is what I have been hoping that they decide to do. You know they could be very specific with it. People needing make ADR'S for 2/23-3/1 could call beginning on 11/21-11/23, 3/2-3/9 on the next 3 days, etc. It could make everything so much easier if they do this.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed but am feeling this will not be happening.

Yes you can. Those are two of the three that are still at 180 days.

We are going from 2/18-2/24. I was able to make our ADR's through the 22nd, but they won't let me make a reservation for the 23rd!! It's frustrating to have that last ADR (we're leaving very early on the 24th) hanging over my head! I was told to call back mid-October to try to book. I was also told to check the website daily in October, because of online reservations. I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I'm expecting this to be a nightmare! But as it has already been discussed, anything having to do with a computer update never goes as planned.
