New diabetic needs help choosing glucose meter

After various lab tests, I was told yesterday by my MD that I have Type 2 diabetes. I wasn't given much direction on the type of blood glucose meter to purchase, just given RX. I have no idea on what to purchase, can anybody give me reviews or suggestions? I am a wimp and ease of use would be a great asset too.

Did they schedule you to meet with a dietitian? When I was pregnant with my 2nd child I was boarderline gestational diabetic. They sent me to see a dietitian. They gave me a meter and told me how to use it. You might also check with your insurance company and see if they have an programs for diabetics. Our local blue cross office offers a special program that they offer meters and instruction on how to use it.
