An official update today shows that the inside of the ride will be completely revamped, with 'Tron Like' scenes.

The track will remain as it currently is, but the vehicles and show scenes will be replaced, an a new interactive element will allow you to 'select' aspects of your ride vehicles dynamics (such as power, capability, efficiency) and can be selected in the queue before you ride. After the ride you can then get a report on how your car performed, and enjoy some other interactive experiences based on your experience

Those looks sweet! Very Tron like. Love it. Can't wait to hear and see more about it. :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting the pictures, they are beautiful. It looks like it will be worth waiting for. We go next week so will miss it but it just gives us an excuse to go back, don't you think!;)

This is disappointing as no one in our family is a sci-fi person and none of us has seen Tron. It seems to me the audience that would be interested in a Tron themed ride is smaller than the audience that would be interested in a more generally themed ride like Test Track was before the refurb. This is entirely my opinion and I may be in the minority and not know it, which would be consistent with my wife's assessment of my total lack of a sense of what is stylish or fashionable. :)

It's not themed to Tron at all. It is futuristic and when you're in Future World I don't think you should be surprised if a new ride fits the bill.

It looks like Tron, but not entirely. It reminds me of Space Mountain, too.

I guess we'll see when there's more pics. Looks good so far :D

I like it but I'd love to know how they got to this concept...

Was it, "maybe we should refurb Test Track into a Tron ride... nah, that's too expensive and wouldn't jive with a sponsor... but let's make it look kinda Tronish and stick with the current infrastructure".

Or is it something of a back to the future move? A return to the lost Horizons era Future World, where there were more whimsically futuristic themes to be found. I hope it's the latter for the sake of any future changes in Future World. Artwork like the above and in Spaceship Earth convey emotions that I think Epcot is all about.

SWEET! I LOVE it! Hopefully it will be open again when we go down to Disney on November 29.

Anyone here that rode the old "If you had Wings/If you could Fly/Delta Dreamflight" ride remembers the "speed tunnel". For those that don't it's the part of Buzz Lightyear with the streaking starfield.

I'd like to see something like that on Test Track, giving the illusion of moving more quickly than you actually do on the outside loop.

While I wish it were themed to Tron, it still looks pretty rad. I'm not the biggest fan of the current Test Track, so this may be enough to get me to ride it again.

I think the issue is that you are already going 60 mph and a speed tunnel would have to be very long in order for you to see any effect or it would just whiz by. Much easier to move the light poles together more near the end so they come at you faster.

Also this is supposed to be a car demo going the speed limit, not a NASCAR demo going 200 mph. :thumbsup2

I meant the "speed tunnel" would be inside and would create the effect that you are going faster then 60 mph (the speed of the outside loop).

I could see it inside on the straight away before you exit outside but then you are now outside "going slower". Maybe they could use it to simulate accelerating faster than could normally.

Well, that may be the case, but is sure LOOKS Tronish. ( I think I just made that word up) :)

I'm thinking they made it "Tron" without calling it "Tron". If the GM sponsorship lapses, they now have the ability to do a quick changeover.

don't understand how the options will work with multiple groups in a vehicle.
