New Cruiser and Patch

On a side note, I want to try something other than the patch that I haven't tried before, but I don't get car sick or air sick so has anyone tried motion sickness medicine out at an amusement park? Six Flags is down the street and I definitely get sick on some of the rides *side eyes Batman real hard*
I have tried Dramamine and Bonine at amusement parks. While both worked for nausea the Bonine helped the most and also helped with dizziness. I get the generic chewables at Target. I also chew ginger gum as needed for the really spinney rides.

For our second cruise (before I realized the Bonine situation) I did buy a patch and I used it for three days, changed it out and then after the fourth day, I started having a lot of trouble focusing on things close up. I was having a hard time reading my book or menus. I was squinting and holding it far away from me - the whole nine (and no, it wasn't on my fingers, I made sure to be extremely careful of touching my eyes after application). Our final day was in CC and I realized when we got back on board, my patch had fallen off. I didn't put another one on, but I was fine.

Same story...it dilated my eyes when I switched on Day 4 so I had to take it off. If you have a lienient doctor you could try the patch now before you leave. If you don't have side effects great! If you do - then take Bonine. I do not recommend Dramamine unless you are super sick. If you already know you get sick, keep meds coming every X hours you won't be able to get ahead of it. I do not recommend just getting on and seeing how you feel! Esp if prone to motion sickness. I take less drowsy Dramamine when I go to Six Flags and it doesn't make me tired. If you get onboard and feel like crap take some Benadryl (kinda same medicine) if Benadryl makes you sleepy. It'll knock you out so when you wake up you feel ahead of the game because it rids nausea as well and something about sleep helps reset the body. Good luck!

I'm prone to motion sickness on rides and have actually thrown up on an airplane (that was a blast, not!). It's gotten worse as I've gotten older, and I did feel pretty awful on a really rocky Mexican Riviera cruise in my teenage years, so I don't take chances anymore. Meclizine works great for me. I use it in the parks now too. I did try it out in advance of a trip, just to make sure I didn't have any side effects first.

However, it's definitely good to note, as a PP said - that having motion sickness issues elsewhere doesn't mean you will on a cruise. I was really panicking about my 8yo, who get motion sick on car rides (yes, even throwing up). I made him wear sea bands for the first couple of days, and then he just stopped b/c he didn't like wearing them. And he was totally fine! I panicked for no reason
