I am not impressed. I bought a 4 pack today at Target for 18.99 and when I opened them for my sons I noticed they are plastic. The original ones were die cast metal. Those things last! These new ones remind me of dollar store toys. It's really annoying to keep paying and paying for things while the quality just goes downhill. Shame on Mattel! Next maybe they will make their Hotwheels plastic too.

ETA: Sorry, I obviously mean "Cars" Toys. My six month old is on my lap and she was hitting my keys but edit won't let me change the title....oops. :)

I agree.

The quality of kid's toys is a thing of the past!
I buy very few fp and mattel toys for my grandson cuz theyre made so cheaply.

It's really a shame because Fisher Price used to be so nice. My aunt gave my kids a toy gardening set. It was still in the original box but had been played with. Anyway it had to be like 15 years old or so and it was made in the USA and it was so nice!!!!

I actually like Fisher Price, but I'm biased because they are local where I live and my dad works for them. I think they give their employees some great benefits (as long as you don't get laid off first!). I was just really surprised at the quality of these cars. It's a really big difference. If you are going to make them so much more cheaply than lower the price of a car...has the price of metal really gone up that much? I'd rather pay more for the car and have it made the way it used to be.

Maybe I care a little too much about this...but with my son's...they just really love cars so it's my one splurge for them, well actually we like the Thomas trains too but those are made really nice and I can buy them on Amazon for about half retail.

We bought DS3 several of the Cars 2 toys today and had the same thought. They are mostly PLASTIC! What a disappointment. I also don't like how Target split up the characters in the 4 packs. If you bought all 3 of the 4 packs then you have 3 sets of duplicates! :headache:

I also couldn't believe the "talking/light up" cars were $10 EACH! :scared1: We will not be collecting those. The display of the racing ones was put out this morning (we were at Target at 10am when they put it out) and when we went back after dinner it was already broken.
