New Course Maps and medals for DL half released today!

Just got a text from my coach in Cali to check my email. Lo and behold, there is the email from Disney Endurance with the picture of the new medal and the links to the new course maps. It sure is a pretty medal! I can't figure out how to link the picture here, but if you are doing this race, check your email!

No offense, but I really don't like it. I don't like this year's Goofy medal either (figures...the only year I will ever do Goofy).
Maybe if I had done each of these events all FIVE years would I like a medal in which the giant 5 overshadows the original medal design. But I haven't done each of them 5 years, so the giant 5 means nothing to me. ugh. The Goofy medal would have been great for the "perfectly Goofy" people who had done all 5 years. For me...it was a medal in which the Goofy was overshadowed by the 5. Now they're doing the same with the castle. Suppose that's what I get for happening to do a race on an anniversary year, and you can believe me, it won't happen again.

It's not an anniversary for the Coast-to-Coast is it? That will be my first one for that and if it has a giant frickin' 5 on it, I'll ...well.... not be Disney-like.

No, the coast to coast is at most 4 years old because if it were 5 I would have gotten it in 2006 <sad trombone> .

I do get what you are saying but at the same time I think the medal should change a bit every year (and more then just the year on it). I like how the medals for the RnR events are all different every year so if you do a race twice you don't have two identical medals. From a marketing perspective it is also better for Disney, or whatever race, because it gives people an incentive to do it again for a different medal. I do agree that in both cases the 5 should have been a secondary feature of the medal instead of the main one.

The Coast to Coast medal was first offered in 2008. Same here Frank. I would have liked it with my 2006 WDW medal and I didn't do DL in 2007.

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who hates the "FIVE". I did Goofy this year as well and hate the FIVE. I will now have to do it again to get the regular one. Now the Disneyland too. UGH!!!!

I actually like the 5, because it's a different medal. It's my first time running it, but it makes me excited to run it again next year too.

Sorry...I actually like the special medals for the 5th. I am more excited for my first coast to coast.

Really bummed out that we only hit the parks in the beginning and not at the end. It was a great energy boost at the end of the run.

Oh well. It will be a blast no matter what.
