Just wanted to see if any other Cruisline BRIDES had gotten this message???? I just got a call from my daughter today she got an e-mail and I think she said a voice mail also that due to changes Cathy is no longer with them!!! The NEW Coordinators name she has is Brianna Marshall.....Not sure of the spelling.

Just thought I would post here and see if anyone else has gotten this message.....I wonder whats up!

My sister is a DCL bride for Nov. I've never spoken to Cathy but it seems that she is less than interested in helping. When you are planning not just your wedding, but a DISNEY CRUISE wedding, you need your coordinator to show atleast a little enthusiasm about your event.
 
I know what you are saying about Cathy. I know that DD had a bit of trouble with her in the beginning but recently when DD sent a email with a question Cathy seemed to answer much faster, maybe she knew that the layoff's were comming?? I don't know all I know is what DD said on the phone.

When in November is your sister getting married my daughter is getting married on the Wonder November 8-12 cruise!!!!! They are getting married on Deck 7 when and where is your sisters??????
 
I can tell you that Brianna Marshall is great. She was my Escape consultant and responded to my emails within a day or two and did her best to answer all the questions I had.
 

I found out about this earlier this morning and have already spoken to Brie. I did not receive a call from DFTW nor the email until after i had spoken to her and she simply emailed me so I would have her contact info.

I feel bad for Cathy - I hope she left voluntarily. I didn't like the whole cruise wedding experience and therefore I guess have no one else I can blame even though I am sure its not her fault.

Believe it or not I'm actually kinda worried.

I never had any problems with Cathy. My biggest problem with this is that my wedding 20 days out and I have one guest that probably won't be making it but she puts me over my 10 people limit. Cathy told me that I can get a refund of the $100 if/when she doesn't make it.

Do you think that this will be in my file or am I going to have problems getting that money back?

(I think I was her last cruise bride...thank heavens I got all my paperwork 2 weeks ago.)

:eek::eek: Wow....i can't believe you would write that! Someone just lost their job! Disney laid of 900 people last week, somehow i doubt that Cathy went willingly. Your problem with the DCL wedding is the same problem you have with the Castle wedding. DFTW is not bending over backwards to give you your ever little whim and desire! They won't give you the entire private adult restaurant for your reception, they won't give you an entire private beach for you and your guests. your problem was not with Cathy, your problem is with the system and to just go on like that, like you are HAPPY that someone just lost their job in this economy is just CRUEL, HEARTLESS and MEAN! Real peoples lives are affected by these decisions so take your happy celebrations elsewhere. :headache:
 
I am assuming she left willingly. If I hear otherwise then I will definitely feel differently. If all of the cuts were last week wouldn't we have been notified then if she was part of it?

The restaurant and beach and everything else isn't her department so I am not holding any of that against her. She has nothing to do with any of that. I just overall as others have said thought she was completely disinterested in our wedding from the get go.

I don't think thats mean or cruel. If she were interested - then I would feel differently and have great things to say and be really sorry about the loss.

Sleeping Beauty - If you are worried about getting that refund she had promised, I would just call and make sure that Brianna knows about it.
 
Bottom Line: Layoffs SUCK. I feel for Cathy and the others who lost their jobs. I was laid off last year from a job I hated and it was still difficult. I wish them the best of luck in finding work elsewhere.
 
The packages were offered to high up salaried employees about a month ago. What happened last week was all involuntary. Just fyi.
 
Funny how you were Cathys best fan when she was trying to send you enhancements for castaway

You are 9 months away from your wedding.. To say she is disinterested is unfair and immature.
I have known Cathy for almost 2 years and she was very sweet and I never had an issue with her.. She was very restricted by the Dcl system and very overworked as the only planner

Eta- it is also very ignorant to assume someone chose to leave when a company just had a huge layoff... Cathy was NOT expecting this as we were suppose to have lunch together next month
 
If it was not voluntary then I do feel bad. At the same time I am going to hold my ground. Previously I didn't think anything more or less of her because of enhancements. I sent one email and got one back and thats just what it said.

We contacted her originally the first week of November - we didn't get a response until 3 days prior to christmas about 15 mins before the offices closed for the holiday. It was like pulling teeth just to get our date confirmed after the offices reopened in Jan. Thats where my problem started. Like I also previously said - it may have not been her fault - maybe the department is so unbelieveably understaffed that its the first chance she had to contact me. I can't hold that specifically against her - just the department. I spoke with her for about 5 mins before our travel agent made ALL of the reservations. Other than maybe 3 short emails total that was it. So thats my story - sorry theres not much to it.
 
DCL weddings can not be booked until 12 months out....so talking to her in November really wouldn't have done any good. End of Dec/begining of Jan was probably just about right to begin contact with her.
 
Once again - they never told me that. The same way they never mentioned that none of the planning started until 60 days prior.

Our WDW consultant is awesome. We really like him - we started with him before we decided on the cruise. He helped to put us in contact with Cathy. He also sits (used to sit) at a desk right next to hers. If we were way out of line asking in November I would have hoped that he would have mentioned so.

And you aren't getting answers with dftw on the castle abomination.. So why don't you strike them out too??
 
Our WDW consultant is fabulous - even if he doesn't care he goes out of his way to make it seem as though he does. The whole time he has been in contact with us. He returns emails instantly and just genuinely seems to care about our wedding. I like that - it means a lot. We have a castle site visit with the castle people in 4 weeks. =o)

I like everyone else I have come into contact with so far. Even the people in the groups departments who are the bearers of bad news at least are good about returning emails promptly and are really nice about it. As frustrated as I sometimes get - they seem to share that frustration with me =o)
 
Wow! Emotions are running high! Now I feel bad, since I just made a joke on another thread that I probably badgered Cathy to death with my questions - not realizing that she was laid off! :sad2:
That being said, I have never had any problems with any of the DFTW staff. Even the photography people included. Everyone was always nice and even Cathy has always answered my questions and emails very promptly.

I can't imagine her not always being professional and prompt. I'm sorry to hear if anyone experienced anything else.

I have not gotten an email from the new planner yet, so I do not have her contact info, or a chance to get to "know" her, so I don't have any opinions. I hope that she will be able to take over such a big task.
 
WOW....I just wanted to let other Cruiseline Brides know what DD had found out today. I nor my daughter are happy that Cathy is gone. DD is so laid back about the whole thing, that is why she did the Cruiseline easier and less stress for DD and her fiancee. We are all just looking forward to the trip!!

Some people just want too much I think to be a "Cruise" Bride, In my honest opinion. I have read Bride-to Be's planning Journal and am so confused by it that my head spins. Seems that before you can plan a Wedding you have to have some idea of what you want!!! That being said I have to agree with the other posters who think it is pretty horrable of someone to be happy that someone lost their job.

Honestly Bride-to-Be you really need to do your Wedding at the Castle if for no other reason than to spare anyone who may be on the Cruise you were thinking of getting Married on, you want WAY to many things to be "JUST FOR YOU" and it would be totally unfair to anyone else on that ship with you.

Sorry for saying it but it is how I feel and if I was on a Cruise that catered to one group that much I would want my money back.

Call the main number and set up a phone appt. Or call and tell them that you are really frustrated and would like to be assigned to someone else. We really like Bill, even though he can be a little slow too.

March 11th
I just called and said I was interested and they had Bill call me back within a day or so to start talking about all of the venue options. I would just call the main desk for DFTW, if you email them it may take quite a bit longer.
February 15th
I was assigned Bill in the beginning too. He is great - I really like him! Everyone always says how much they love him. However, he is unbelieveably busy and can be nearly impossible to get a hold of at times (as most of the wedding people seem to be). I found if I really wanted to talk to him the best thing to do was to call the main desk and set up a time for him to call me.

He is the nicest person ever.

I can't post your original thread because it has been locked and deleted but you stated there that you were told that planning didn't get really started until 100 days out and you didn't know how you were going to wait that long. Carrie and I both told you that on the first page..again, that is DCL's policy which is beyond any one's control except DCL

I know I seem to be taking this WAY personally, but Cathy and I emailed each other at least once a month even in the last 6 months since my ceremony. She fought very hard to have the Palo manager allow my cake to be in the private room thus giving me a real reception feel..She also went above and beyond on everything from the standard tropical bouquet changes to having the sheet music to our song sent to the ship and getting to the pianist.

To just be so callus in stating that "YAY!!!! That makes me so happy as a DCL bride!!! " is beyond my comprehension.

You even stated that you didn't like the DCL process..that isn't Cathy's fault..the fact that ship cast members have rotating contracts is standard in the industry and not exclusive to DCL. From the above, it does appear that they were trying to make your wedding special, but you can't expect them to close a restaurant or a beach and put out hundreds of other guests.

I think you need to decide WHO your planner is too..you talk about Bill and Dorothy and Cathy..Castle weddings and CC..people can't even keep track of all your stories..you are all over the place with your wants and desires and understandably at this point, DFTW probably doesn't know what you want
