I just got a new computer, and I want to install iTunes. I have all my music on my iPod. Is there any way that I can get the music from the iPod into iTunes? I have most of my music backed up, but not all of it, I had very little warning that my computer would crash out on me. Fortunately, I have most of my files saved, so I didn't lose anything important, but I would like to get my music as well.

There are a million different ways to handle it.

There is this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329. It worked with one of my ipods after my computer crashed. I also used this for another ipod: http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/products/musicrescue/ to transfer music from my ipod onto my new computer. There's a free trial and it asks you to pay after 10 songs but you can choose not to. I may have used MediaMonkey for my husbands ipod. I can't really remember all the details. I spent hours working on it but if I can do it, anybody can.:goodvibes

I had problems with the third party software. I ended up transferring all the files to an external drive and then moving them that way to my new computer.
