New category at AKL in 2007?

the lounge under rehab? How is that going to work I wonder????? :confused3

I wish they would add standard rooms for 5 people, if they did I wouldn't even think of staying at the all star suites! I've been dreaming of AKL for about 3 years, but didn't know untill last month (when I really started looking at a WDW vacation) that their standards are only 4 person. I don't get why they did that at AKL and WL, unless it's to keep the swine out :rotfl: Well fry me up and stick an apple in my mouth, but let me stay at the AKL!

It's not to keep the swine out, lol its because while AKL and WL are deluxe resorts they are considered a step lower than say the Poly or the Grand. So they are smaller. The rooms are about the size of Caribbean Beach rooms, 341 ft. no way to fit 5 in such a small room.
Dont get me wrong i love AKL its my fave resort, its just they way Disney went about the creation of the resort.

True but they could have had some rooms set-up like POR with a trundle.

There really would not be any room in an AKL std that you could open a trundle into! Surely no room to put a cot - you might squeeze a single aerobed between the beds if you could move them. The rooms are beautiful (at least to me), but not very roomy! :smooth:

I haven't stayed at POR or AKL yet. I just assumed AKL rooms were slighter larger than POR, No?

A room at POR is 315sqft.
A room at CBR is 340sqft.

A standard room at WL is 340sqft.

A stadard room at AKL is 344sqft.
A deluxe room at AKL is 381sqft.

A standard room at PR is 410sqft.

AreWeThereYet? is correct on the room sizes.
POR is smaller, BUT it is less furnished, because it is a moderate resort.AKL, being a deluxe has more and larger furninshings.

Plus AKL would never put in a trundle bed for another reason.Even if the room was big enough, a deluxe resort would never put guests in the position of sleeping ultimately, on the floor. From Disney's standpoint, if you can afford to stay at a Deluxe resort, you ought to be willing to pay for a larger room if you want to have more people.
Not saying thats right, just they way they see it.

It drive me nuts in large part because my three sleep in one bed at home, so why would they need more than one bed on vacation.... in fact they can't sleep apart (believe me I've tried) so the extra bed we will have in a five person room will go to waste.... when they're older it's more understandable, but mine will still be 4, 6, and 7 when we visit. If I knew I'd get away with it I would lie and say Liz was two (like they'd believe that one :rotfl: ), but in my heart I'm too much of a rule follower to do that.... and if you get caught, ouch!
I wish they would add at least a few 5 person standards, maybe call them standard plus or something, they could cost a bit more, and be a little larger (I don't need much room, for a while we had two kids in an effeciancy apt), but I doubt that'll happen, so heres to code hunting! :surfweb: :drinking1

This is not necessarily so -- at the Grand Californian (Disneyland's flagship resort) we have had several bunk bed rooms with a trundle under the bunk bed! So there is hope yet for those of you with larger families! We dont need the extra bed, but hopefully they'll put one in for those of you who do!
