I agree, give something else other than a bag. I have way too many that I don't use.

The bag I like the best was the one we got on our Hawaii cruise in 2012. It was only available for a short time, and I wish I could have gotten more like it (like all the multiples I have of other bags)

We have a couple of these as well and I love them.

I like the backpacks so much better than the recent beach bags. I use my back pack a couple times every week and on every trip I take.

I like the bag but personally I would prefer DCL to offer a throw or a beach towel because I have too many castaway club bags that I give them away to family/friends. Nevertheless thanks for the update.

I agree! I love the beach towel they used to give but of course I only have 1 of those. I have too many bags of all styles that I never use.

The plastic on the black and blue backpack broke after a few uses. Did that happen to anyone else?

Unfortunately for me, I collect bags like some people collect jewelry. I think I'll just have to book another cruise so I can get one.

I was going to say something to the effect of DCL positions themselves as and charges as "Premium" but can't really be bothered to provide "Premium" returning cruiser perks.

But I guess that I will just keep my thoughts to myself

Actually I really like the look of this. I think a backpack would be great for excursions. I hope they still have this next year. How often do they change out the main gift? We sail in September 2017.

Well, not to be snarky, but the gift changes whenever DCL feels like it. It may have to to with production costs more than anything. I think that blue/black backpack was only available for a short time because it probably cost more to produce it than the basic beach bag.

Sometimes the gift doesn't change for a couple of years or sometimes it seems that it changes every year. And, of course, different itineraries seem to have different options at the same time.

Actually, Disney has the best (sometimes only) returning guest gifts. On Carnival we got a pin, on HAL you get a ceramic tile for the ship you are on; on Princess you get a pin and something else, NCL gives you a pin after your second cruise -- send in the mail afterwards. So in the industry, Disney gives the most. I have friends who have sailed dozens of lines and are always jealous that Disney gives us "gifts".

So far my favorite gift, besides the book they gave us on the transatlantic in 2007, has been the red and black barrel bag with the pull string and strap. We take it on every cruise because it packs flat but is sturdy and great for excursions.

That would be frustrating if you cruise once or twice a year to keep getting repeats. Disney should have an exchange store onboard to trade it in for something else LOL

I've heard of guests posting either here or on their particular cruise's FB page while still on the cruise to see if anyone else got something different and if they would be interested in trading. Then they'll meet in the atrium and make the exchange.

Hmmm.... interesting. On the transatlantic, reports were that Gold only got the bag and no tumbler.

We were on the EBTA the past 2 weeks and are gold and got both the bag and tumbler.

We actually used the bag on the flight home to carry excess stuff.

I like that bag. If they give me another on of those ugly beach bags. I think I have at least 5. I'm going to give it back to them. Maybe they'll get the hint. I don't understand why they don't change the gifts every year. Some of us cruise more than once every 3 years.

I hope there's a new bag. I have a few different designs too. I just did the b2b and got two of the canvas bags (which are my least favorite bag ever). I already had one from a cruise last fall too. I have several of the red one, the blue backpack, the silver stripe bag and the gold stripe bag too. We are booked for October 2016 and have my fingers crossed for a new bag that trip. October will be my 10th!

I also have this backpack and LOVE it...use it daily! As others have stated, wish they would give another backpack!
