New Castaway Cay Director

I feel like it's a great sign that they are working toward that end, and hiring local is wonderful for so many reasons. It also means they need to interview, hire and train all new staff....and that will take time.

So all those jobs that were listed on CC were, by my guess, a change of management result and not a “going back to CC soon” restaffing result.
Always a big change in staff when you shake things up at the top.

Am I the only one hoping the new manager might change up the dining options at CC? It's always been the weakest link in terms of dining IMO.

What options do you want changed?
Well maybe "more options" is what I meant. They have the exact same food at Cookies and Cookies Too--might be nice if there was a choice between two different restaurants with two menus. Or if not possible, would love if they shook up the menu a bit rather than having the same stuff year after year. Maybe add a couple more vegetarian/vegan options like they've been doing at the Disney parks. Or a little more that makes you feel like you are in the caribbean instead of at a backyard BBQ in the U.S.--some jerk wings, patties, etc.

Sounds good. Have you ever mentioned that on your post cruise survey? Or to the cruise director on a cruise?

EVERY cruise survey, actually--it's usually my only suggestion (only exception when we sailed on the dream 3-night and they repeated BATB 2 nights--that was so annoying)! Have not actually ever met the cruise director aside form one time my DS got injured on some broken glass in the Mickey Pool (eep) and she was nearby and helped get first aid--and we didn't really chitchat for obvious reasons. But glad you suggested it because if I do ever get to meet the cruise director again I'm definitely going to put in a plug for new menus at Cookies.

At least it sounds like with Lighthouse Point they are going to put more of an emphasis on local culture, which I am hoping means local food too. Though who know when that will open now or if it has been shelved indefinitely because of the hit to profitability from this past year.

I'm sure Lighthouse Point will have some premium restaurant dining option.

BATB? Not coming to mind what that is. Is that A dream or fantasy thing?

When I saw the name Rolle I got excited (it's quite a common name in the Bahamas). I think it's awesome they're going with local leadership, and it should be reflected in the menu options there (conch salad, peas and rice, and some jerk chicken with a Kalik to wash it all down please and thank you!) I've never considered a Bahamian cruise on DCL but I'm really pleased that they might be embracing the local culture instead of just leasing the land.

Duh....

Thanks.

There was a brief time that there were only 2 shows on the Dream, Beauty & the Beast being the new one. They did run it twice per cruise during that time.

Yup that’s what I meant! We were on one of the first cruises that repeated it and had no advance notice so felt a little disappointed. I love shows, and it was a good one, just two night in a row on a three night cruise was a bit much.

That’s exactly what I mean! Would love a bit more local flavor. I live in the midwest so everything on the Cookies menu today is basically a less good version of a standard cookout at home.

My hope is that with Lighthouse point no doubt delayed, the new CC director might be allowed to make some updates to CC before the Wish arrives.

I like the idea of BQ, but the quality isn't great. Would love some new options!

I wonder how much control the CC manager has on the menu for the island. All of the food comes in on the ship, and much of it is prepared in the ship galley prior to being brought ashore. Hot dogs and hamburgers (and steak at Serenity Bay) might be prepared in situ, but many of the other items on the menu are prepared aboard.
