My DD just started with disney last week as a cast member in the college program. She is working in the food court at Port Orleans/Riverside whatever they call it now. Her degree is in american studies with emphasis on communications? so why the food court. Who Knows. But if anyone is staying/going there let me know so you can tell her hi!!

I do not know how to do it, but you may want to put this on the Disney resort or restaurant, or both boards.

I just wanted to say that is a cool spelling of my name...Leslie....I have never seen it spelled like that before!

I'd be glad to say hello to your daughter. We will be going from December 15-24, will she still be there then?

Moving this to the Resorts board. I'm sure they'll love to read this, Leslie!

:p My wife and i will be there 9/13 - 9/17 and would gladly say hello to her.

My 7 yo DD and I will be there next month. We'd be happy to say HI!

Going in November to the French Quarter, but plan to make trips over to the Riverside to taste test their food as well!

We are going to be staying at PO-FQ in October, but I know that we will be over at PO-R, as well. I will look for her, and make sure to say hi. Hopefully by this time next year, I will be a CM at WDW, too!

I know my son was accepted into the college program last year. His major was mechanical engineering and Disney was going to place him in Food Service. When his Univeristy heard that, they said they would NOT give him any credit for the internship, so he made the choice not to go.

Sure, it would have been a great opportunity, but opportunities don't pay the bills. He figured after room and board, taxes and travel expenses, he wouldn't have made more than a couple of hundred dollars for all the work.

I hope it works out great for your DD!!!

I know a girl who started in the College Program. I am not sure in what capacity, but it more than likely didn't have anything to do with her major. She now works in Guest Relations, and gives VIP tours, and has been there for quite a while. So while working in the food court may not seem as though it is giving you any training, it can be used later in life.

The training that Disney incorporates is sought after by many reputable companies both nationwide and around the world, and employers are very eager to hire people who have gone through the Disney training program. The training program at one of the big University hospitals in which I worked was based on Disney's training, and principles, and we had great patient reviews.

Don't knock the training that Disney can offer, and the avenues it can open up in the future!
