Well, it’s getting to be that time. My 2020 Santa Fe will be needing new tires soon. Any certain brands that are better or that you prefer? Would you get tires from Sam’s Club?

We have tires from Sam's on 2 cars now. We had bought a set from BJs but when one needed to be replaced, they no longer carried the same tires. The service guy there told me they don't have a stable inventory, so we went to Sam's. We've had no problems with the tires, and when we got a flat and had to replace the tire, it wasn't an issue, so when the other car needed tires, we went back to Sam's. The customer service has been good, and they rotate the tires at no charge!

I prefer Michelins. My first car, a new 1974 Ford came with them. That is the only brand I will buy. Sams and Costco are fine. My daughter was shopping for tires and wanted Michelins and poked around enough that she found a $150 rebate if she bought them from Costco.
My 2018 Ford came with Hankooks. Chunks of tread started come off at about 15,000 miles. And had bad luck with Coopers.

Depends on your driving conditions.

Generally it's hard to go wrong with Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, Continental, Yokohama or BF Goodrich for most vehicles.

Sam's is fine, just like Costco or most tire places.

Discount Tire is also handy.

FWIW, when it comes to warehouse clubs, generally Sams holds more tires in store inventory than Costco. They both have good service, but I recently went with Costco this time because they had a good sale on some Michelin Defenders that were on the top of the Consumer Reports list for tires in the size my Outback needed. I had to wait 8 days for them to be delivered to the store, but the appointment to get them mounted was well less than an hour. Also, they fill tires with nitrogen instead of oxygen, and will top them up for you anytime, you just need to call first.

Sam's is fine unless you need road force balancing or something like that. However, the tires I just got rid of were from there -- Goodyear Eagle Sports and I would not recommend them. They only made it 29k miles on my truck and they were basically bald. This past winter with them was crappy.

I just got a set of Mastercraft Courser Trail with a 60k mile warranty that are pretty good so far. They are owned by Cooper.

I had Coopers on my old van and they were excellent all seasons. I also like Hankook.

I think it depends on how many miles you plan to drive on them and/or how long you plan to keep that vehicle. Most likely the more expensive tires last longer but if you plan to trade in that vehicle and/or don't drive a lot of miles annually, then probably not worth the extra money.

I didn’t have a choice when I got mine. There was only one tire available for my car.

I bought the Michelin defenders last year from Costco and they had $150 off coupon at that time. I recently got them rotated there for free as well. You do have to make an appointment for that.

If you can hold off till Black Friday, sometimes you can snag a good deal. I grabbed a Buy 2 Get 2 a few years ago at Pep Boys, but in general I always check BJ’s/Sams and Walmart as well. Have even bought online and had shipped to my mechanic with no issues.

This is a big factor. If the car has high miles and /or you put low miles on it, look for the least expensive tire. We have a tire shop around here that resells tires that come off vehicles that have been totaled -perfectly good tire with a little wear for cheap money. I got two high quality tires with only 20% wear for under $150 installed… they’re $200 each new!

When I had to get new tires for my SUV, I ended up going with Michelin, and they've been great. I also checked out Sam’s Club because they had some solid deals and good warranty options. Plus, the convenience of getting them installed while shopping is a nice perk. Just make sure to look up the tire ratings for your Santa Fe to find the best match!

Interesting report
My experience nitrogen worked amazingly well in the last two vehicles 🚗 have used versus the 6 previous ones that only had air ymmv

I think the benefits of using nitrogen in your tires is more of an advertising gimmick in the typical passenger car. My new car was supposedly filled with nitrogen by the manufacturer, but I still find I have to add air in the Fall when it gets cooler and then remove some in Spring when it gets warmer to retain the recommended tire pressure. During normal highway driving in the Summer, I can see the tires gain as much as 5 lb of pressure by watching the display on the instrument panel. Having nitrogen in them made no difference and clearly none of the local gas stations with 'air pumps' are providing nitrogen. Maybe your car dealer can provide nitrogen, but not worth my time/money to make an appointment and spend 3-4 hrs in the waiting area when I can do this for free in under a minute at a gas station. Seems like another one of those theoretically better ideas that provides no benefit in the real world.

I have the Michelin Defenders, no complaints here with the tires I suppose. I DO kind of have a beef w/Discount Tire tho.... I ended up taking the car somewhere else, and they discovered that when they had put one tire on backwards.

They also messed up DH's tire pressure sensors something awful... he took it back a few times before they finally got that straightened out.

It could just be the local place we went, but I would definitely cannot say Discount Tire does a good job.

I’ve been buying my tires at Walmart for years now. I always find they have the best prices (for name brand tires) and I’ve always been pleased. Have put them on four times and my dad has now used them once. Haven’t had any issues.

Have bought General, Douglas, and Goodyear Viva through Walmart. I also bought their cheapest no name tire years ago for an older car that I knew wasn’t going to last long. I didn’t put a lot of miles on those tires but they did just fine for the couple years they were on.

I’ve tried multiple tire places in my area. Both big companies and small. Even ones other people swear by their prices. And Walmart has always come in cheaper for me.

We've also bought our tires at Walmart for years. We have 4 vehicles...had 5 up until about 2 years ago...so we buy a lot of tires. We do shop around, but always end up at Walmart. And for the last few years, our Walmart allows you to make an appointment to have them installed, so that's a bonus. We have a family member in another state who owns an independent tire store and even with a family discount, his tires aren't that much cheaper than Walmart.
