Interesting. I would guess a new lens mount will make some Canon users rather unhappy.

I also noticed this . . . .

She has been shooting all her editorial work with Canon 1Ds MII bodies. These have been major jobs for Vanity Fair and various other mags and recently went on a major Ad job that will be worldwide.

I read a news story last night about Annie Leibovitz shooting an ad campaign for Disney featuring Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Beyonce as Alice in Wonderland and Lyle Lovett as the Mad Hatter and I forget who else.

There have been loads of recent rumours, but nobody knows for sure. The 22MP rumour is everywhere though, as is the theory that it won't have a grip built in, which would account for the comment about it being much smaller. Can't see a different mount though, not unless it remains compatible with the current one.

i'd be suprised if they changed the form factor of the 1Ds series too much. if they remove the grip, that means a new battery system the current 1 series batteries are fantastic - they last for many hundreds, if not thousands of shots and work great in the cold weather.

in terms of needing new decent lenses - absolutely. the current 1Ds almost outresolves most non-L lenses and probably close to a few Ls as well... i doubt pretty seriously that they'd introduce a new mount, though.
