New Camera???

I have a Canon A520 and need to know if it would be worth the money to buy a Canon S3? I take a lot of videos of nighttime shows and wonder if the S3 would do a better job. Any advice? By the way, I am very inexperienced but plan on reading tips on this site. Thanks for any help!!!

If night-time video is what you want, the S3 probably isn't a good choice.

Night-time isn't the S3's strong-point, in any case, and its video (though very good for a still camera) is limited to 1G segments (about 8-9 min. at best resolution/fps) even if you've got a 4G or 8G SDCard....

I agree that it is not the right choice if the video mode is all that interests you. You still need a video camera to get the kind of video you want. Give it a couple of years and who knows.

Thanks so much for the advice. I will stick to using my video camera although it sure would be nice to only carry one camera. Oh Well!!!!

Yeah ... that's probably your best bet.

The S3's video is *really* nice, but it's more "supplemental" to the digital stills ... that 1G limit comes up very quickly.

It's great when you just want to catch your kid(s) meeting their favorite character for a minute or two, but recording a whole 20min show isn't going to happen....
