New California Grill menu

This is such a disappointment to me as I just want to eat the things I want. Just give me a menu with prices and let me decide.

Cali Grill is still filling every seat every night, and with the prix fixe option, they know the minimum in how much they're getting per table. People won't be sneaking in, grabbing one app for the table, and then hogging that table for a couple of hours for the fireworks.

They're making way more money this way, so there's little incentive for them to change it back.

Not arguing that, I just personally hate Prix fixe Menus

I wonder when we'll get the new menu....we're a few days out from the 50th menu ending. Not a fan of Prix Fix menus but I actually enjoyed the 50th menu.

Hate Pre Fix. It also costs them money on their end, cause I use to spend alot more than what they are charging. I ordered many things off that menu. I assume I can't do that with pre fix, even if I want to try other items. Takes away the high class signature dining aspect.

I think you're the minority on ordering more than $89 worth of food. California Grill was famous (or infamous) for ordering one drink and maybe an appetizer to hold a table for fireworks.

Agreed. "Cheap" fireworks viewing for some folks.

I also disagree with the idea it costs the restaurant money - the restaurant has fewer ingredients to order and maintain, and probably much less waste. Not a huge fan of the prix fixe, but with so many places doing it and people still filling the restaurants, I can see why they continue to do it. We did the 50th menu at CG in January, and it was a really good meal. Not sure there was anything missing from the menu for us. Yet there are other menus we do not like and won't go to unless they stop the prix fixe - choices.....

That sucks. I always get a bottle of wine and dress up for a night dinner every trip. The wine is more then the per couple pre fix lol

Id order a bunch of apps, flat breads, sushi, entrees, etc.

I guess maybe I should try topolinos then.

Topolino's for great view, Flying Fish and Jaleo are also both good if you want to try a wide variety of dishes.

We ate at Cali Grill last week, and the menu has already started changing. Our server pointed out new items that will be on the "new" menu. We tried the new dessert, and I think it may be the best thing I've ever eaten. I hope it stays forever!

was the dessert the lemon chiffon cake? The photo on the link above makes it looks gorgeous and delicious ..

What was this dessert that was so good??

It's listed on the menu as peanut and banana torte. It's basically peanut butter creamy goodness on a shortbread crust drizzled in caramel and topped with a salt sprinkle - with caramelized bananas on the side. I don't like bananas, so my husband ate those. The torte itself is just decadent - almost like a candy bar but creamy and smooth. It's absolutely one of the best desserts I've ever had anywhere.
