New breakfast buffet at the Wave

I am also interested in more information. When I look at making a reservation, it just says it's "a la carte" service...are there different reservations for buffet?

I think it's like Fresh at the Dolphin; once you're seated you can either order off the menu or chose to go the buffet route.

This sounds great. I would love to go over there and try it. We enjoy The Wave very much for dinner. I bet this buffet is just as delicious.

I was hoping this would be a permanent thing! They have been doing it as a trial since December or January... they didn't know if it was going to stay or not!!

I'm glad it is because we want to try it!! Yay :cool1:

When we went, it was 18 or 19 per adult, and given the options available I thought it was fair. Very happy that this is continuing, as we really enjoyed it.

We were there for breakfast last month and it looks like it's going to stay. The buffet is set up in a separate area by the kitchen. It's done up very nicely, with a marble counter area, glass tile and some nice decor. They have quite a nice assortment of food.

You can order the buffet (it was $18.99 when we were there in early Feb.) or you can still order off the regular breakfast menu. I love their eggs benedict but they have them on the buffet so I wanted to try some other items up there and I have to say I absolutely LOVED the grits!! I was never all that crazy about grits but theirs were so yummy!:lmao:

The also have Mickey waffles, french toast fritters, eggs, bacon, assorted pastries and fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, cereal, pancakes, sausage, home made biscuits and gravy and delicious hash brown potatoes. There was also bagels and smoked salmon, onion, capers and tomatoes and hard boiled eggs. (no particular order, I'm browsing at the photos I took while we were there as I jot everything down). ;)

It's different than FRESH at the Dolphin as there they actually make to order what you want right there at the kitchen area. The Wave is a regular buffet where the food is already made. If you want your food to order then you can order something off the regular menu. But, I found the buffet to be extremely fresh. Gets a great thumbs up from me!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Here are some photos- the first is a long shot of one side of the buffet and the second is the samples I put on my plate (of course I did eat them;-) I will be reviewing this breakfast and uploading photos onto my restaurant review website soon: www.disneydiningreviews.com

Interesting. We have a breakfast booked at Boma on our arrival morning (we're coming from Universal, so we'll get to Disney in the am), but this looks good. We're staying at AKL. Do they have a wide selection of things? Can someone tell me what The Wave had for protein and pancakes when you ate at the buffet?

They did have pancakes (sweet potato pancakes), bacon and turkey sausage. They also had smoked salmon as well as the usual scrambled eggs, quiche and hard boiled eggs. Check out my post prior to this one for a more extensive list.;) It's a good buffet and a great place for breakfast (this was one of our favs before they added the buffet!)

That sounds great!
Freash does make some things to order - the waffles, pancakes and egg dishes are all made fresh - just like their name :D

Yes, some years back we stayed at the S/D all of the time and we frequently dined at FRESH for breakfast and loved it. However, sometimes on the weekends or during busier convention times you'd have to wait in line for quite sometime to get your items cooked. While it was nice to have it cooked fresh sometimes it made it difficult to eat together with your family.

The Wave isn't set up like that, it's just a regular buffet. But, I did read somewhere that you can get an omelette to order (I didn't realize this when we were there), but they would make it in the kitchen and then bring it out to you.;)

One thing I really liked at FRESH though was during the weekends they had breakfast items on their lunch buffet or they extended breakfast and added lunch items so it was one of the only places on WDW property (if the only place) where you could eat "brunch" or breakfast at noon or later.:thumbsup2

Looks pretty good. We may just have to try it in May.

Thanks for posting! We like visiting the buffets that also offer menu selection. While the guys like feasting the girls are still watching their figures! Until now, Cap. Grill was the only other place I liked for this feature. I think WCC does both AYCE and menu too.

That looks yummy - we have a reservation there for a late breakfast/brunch next month and it looks perfect for our family.

Thanks for the update. We ate here for the first time last November for lunch and liked it very much. I think we are going to have to give this a try for our June trip!

I'd like to try this in Sept. Just concerned if DD8 will have Chef Mickey's in her view the whole time (don't worry, she's not deprived; we're also eat there during our trip).
