New breakfast buffet at the Wave

I'd like to try this in Sept. Just concerned if DD8 will have Chef Mickey's in her view the whole time (don't worry, she's not deprived; we're also eat there during our trip).

They are on different floors so no chance unless you pass CM if you use the monorail. The Wave is on the main level/ground level where check in is.

The buffet looks great. I have our September ADR's planned and will book them later this month. I am planning Chef Mickey's the first morning and would like to try the Wave for a breakfast, lunch or dinner or two later in the week. Does anyone know what the walk-up situation would be in mid-September, i.e., do we need ADRs? I'd like to leave it open and just show up when and if we want to go...

Thanks,

Martin

DH loves their Eggs Benedict, too. We have breakfast there every trip (we really miss the Concourse Steakhouse)--this past Dec, not so much. My MIL and I were there 12/10 and I ordered the Amaerican Platter (or something like that). They were very small servings and I could see her through my bacon it was so thin. I don't know how they got bacon thinner than tissue paper, but alas it happened. I was very disappointed. I am so tickled to see they have a buffet. I can pick my own bacon ! :cloud9:

Our Ratings of The Wave (Breakfast Buffet):
. . . food price value: C+
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: B (not yet widely known, so not busy)
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: A
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: This is a new location for a breakfast buffet. The buffet
is not overly lengthy or widely diverse, but more than ample in
selection and quantity. At just under $20 per adult, it is a reasonable
buffet for WDW, but the selection quantity slightly reduces the
perceived value to a "C+" from a "B". However, as buffet breakfast,
it is probably the best-kept secret in WDW.

How can you give a quantity per serving grade at a buffet? You can always take more or return for more?

Does anyone know for sure how late the breakfast buffet runs?

We were there for breakfast this past trip the 2nd week of Feb. (fairly slow time) and in the past we've been there in October and May for breakfast pre-buffet though, (both moderate to slow). Each time it was not busy at all. This past time was the busiest we probably have seen it but it still was not busy by "other restaurant's" standards if you know what I mean. It's probably gotten busier because of the buffet and may continue to do so.

But, to answer your question, we did have ADRs this past trip but not the other trips and we didn't wait any of those times. Always good to ADRs but mid-Sept is one of the slowest times of the year so you should be fine (unles of course there's a big convention at the CR that could throw you off but also not a popular time for that either.;) I think you'll be ok to do a walk-up then.;)

Thanks jwfla422! That's what I was hoping... We plan breakfast in the room most days, CS for lunch and have one CS planned for dinner so it's nice to know the Wave is an option for those times.

1) Of course a buffet is typically unlimited supply.
2) But, some items are very short in supply or are in small pans.
3) They frequently run out.
4) Then, you have to take something else, or return to get the item.
5) So, if not willing to wait, the quantity is low.

NOTE: I am sure all of us have been to buffets where we had to wait for a specific item. A good example is *usually* bacon at a breakfast buffet. So many take it that the pan is frequently empty. SO, you wait for more or come back to the line.
