New bread at every restaurant

What’s up with the new bread being served at the sit-down restaurants? It’s horrible!! Used to get nice, crusty rolls. Now it’s like a little loaf of nondescript white bread. Tasteless with even less texture. It was served at Storytellers and Blue Bayou. DLR must have contracted for a lower price and sacrificed quality in the process. A low spot in every meal!

Send in a comment (use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the DLR webpage) describing exactly when and where you had the bread. Describe why you didn't like it (be specific -- don't say generic things like, "it was bad!") and why the other bread was better. This may be a temporary change or a test run. Disney may be in the process of changing suppliers. Let them know that you noticed the change and did not approve. It really does help Disney management to get guest feedback.

I thought they built an on-site bakery northeast of the parking structure. maybe there was a problem and they had to bring in bread from a vendor.

The bread we had at Storytellers last Saturday night was the same as it's always been - a mini-loaf of white bread and a few corn muffins. We've been going pretty much weekly for the last 4-5 months.

We ate at Wine Country Tratorria (sp?) last Tuesday and Blue Bayou on Sunday, and we got the same loaf at both. The only noteworthy thing about the bread is that it has a few flecks of rosemary on it. Unfortunately, my daughter doesn’t like rosemary, so since her first bite featured that, she wouldn’t eat any more! Usually bread is her favorite. Sad day.

I will do this, too. We were also disappointed with the new bread at BB.

Agree with a previous poster who mentioned that the soft bread at Storyteller's is what they always serve. I don't know what types of bread are served at each location, but is it possible the bread is more homogenized and less familiar right now simply because the Pacific Wharf bakery is shut down completely for refurb? All bread that was being made at that location is being trucked in during the refurb, so perhaps that has temporarily affected what types of bread are available and being served across all locations.

We had mixed feelings about the bread at B.B. it comes out in a loaf that has 4 portions. To me it tasted like a Hawaiian roll. The upside is we didn’t eat near as much bread as we did when we were offered rolls and cornbread.

When is the bakery reopening? My daughter loves bread. I am thinking of surprising her with a July trip. We have done the tour.

I'm wondering if there was a fluke for the OP. The bread at Storytellers was the same last week as it has been the last 5 years. I love the corn muffins in the basket. And the white bread has always been good. And it has always been different from Blue Bayou. And I love the sourdough loaf at Steakhouse. And again, a very different bread at Carthay. Maybe he hit a bad day?

Yes...Hawaiian rolls. I knew it reminded me of something at BB. That's it, Hawaiian rolls. And like you, we didn't eat as much. We used to clean out the bread basket at BB.

Yesterday, I had a bread bowl with broccoli cheese soup at Harbor Galley. The bread bowl looked great. It didn't feel or taste great, though. The bread was dried out and seemed like it had been sitting out cut up way too long. I don't know if that had anything to do with this current bread issue, but I'd never order that again. Either it was frozen for a long time and not stored properly or they cut the top off early in the morning or the day before and just left it sitting out in the air. Blech

As someone who cannot eat gluten I have to tell you these are first world bread problems!! :cheer2:
THIS. We've been gluten free for 6 years due to celiac. At Napa Rose, they do a very good gluten free herbed flatbread, kind of like pizza dough bread. Blue Bayou had very decent gf brown bread rolls that were soft and good. However, everywhere else, we got gluten free hamburger buns that had been buttered, toasted and sprinkled with herbs. Get this: even at CLUB 33: gf hamburger buns prettied up! Same at Carthay Circle. That was 15 months ago, not sure if it's changed at all.
